Welcome to Walney Oaks Discovery House! We are a licensed in-home daycare and preschool program in the Walney Oaks subdivision of Chantilly, VA. We are just off Walney Road (SR 657), with easy access to Sully Road (SR 28), Centreville Road (SR 657), Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy (Route 50), and I-66. We are also just a few minutes from Brookfield Elementary School, making our Chantilly child care program convenient for families who live or work nearby.
Our child care program operates year-round, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We offer full-time and part-time care for infants as young as 2 months old, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years of age.
All children attending Walney Oaks Discovery House receive well-balanced daily meals, which are included in tuition. We also maintain a peanut-free and tree-nut-free environment to help protect children with nut allergies.
Hi, parents! I am the proud owner and main caregiver at Walney Oaks Discovery House in Chantilly, VA. With over 16 years of child care experience, I have worked as a lead teacher in local public schools and as an assistant at a licensed daycare. I hold a bachelor's degree in arts and am certified in CPR and First Aid.
In addition to English, I am fluent in Hindi and Urdu, and upon request, I can introduce your little one to one of these languages. Throughout my career, and as a proud mom of two, I have developed a deep understanding of children's developmental needs and the importance of creating positive, meaningful learning experiences.
I opened Walney Oaks Discovery House because I believe every child deserves a place that feels like a second home. After years of caring for children and supporting local families, I wanted to create a warm, home-based environment where children can learn, explore, and grow at their own pace.
My goal is for parents to feel confident that their little ones are receiving attentive, loving care while building the skills and confidence they need for the future. 🏠
Our philosophy is based on the belief that early childhood should be filled with opportunities for discovery, growth, and connection. Through play-based learning and positive guidance, we help children build confidence, independence, creativity, and strong social skills.
We support each child's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through hands-on activities, consistent routines, and individualized care. Our space is clean, organized, and welcoming, and we work closely with families through open communication to create a safe and positive environment for every child.
Our daily routine provides a balanced mix of learning, play, outdoor time, and rest. The morning begins with a warm welcome and free play, followed by fine-motor and sensory activities that encourage creativity, exploration, and problem-solving.
During circle time, children enjoy songs, stories, and age-appropriate discussions about topics such as the weather, calendar, and weekly themes. Throughout the day, they participate in hands-on activities that support early literacy, math, science, and creative arts.
When the weather permits, we also include outdoor play, music, and movement. Children receive nutritious meals and have opportunities to practice self-help skills that build confidence, independence, and healthy habits.
After nap or quiet time in our dedicated nap room, children enjoy dramatic play and small-group activities that encourage imagination, communication, and positive social interactions. We end the day with free play and updates for parents so families can stay connected to their child's experiences and routines.
