Welcome to Walney Oaks Discovery House! We are a licensed in-home daycare and preschool program in the family-friendly Walney Oaks subdivision of Chantilly, VA. We are just off Walney Road (SR 657), with convenient access to Sully Road (SR 28), Centreville Road (SR 657), Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy (Route 50), and I-66.

We are also just a few minutes from Brookfield Elementary School, making our Chantilly child care program convenient for families who live or work nearby.

Program:

Our child care program operates year-round, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We offer full-time and part-time care for infants as young as 2 months old, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years of age.

All the little ones attending Walney Oaks Discovery House receive well-balanced daily meals, which are included in tuition. We also maintain a peanut-free and tree-nut-free environment to help protect children with nut allergies.

About Me:

Hi, parents! I am the proud owner and main caregiver at Walney Oaks Discovery House in Chantilly, VA. With over 16 years of child care experience, I have worked as a lead teacher in local public schools and as an assistant at a licensed daycare. I hold a bachelor's degree in arts and am certified in CPR and First Aid.

In addition to English, I am fluent in Hindi and Urdu. Upon request, I can introduce your little one to one of these languages. Throughout my career, and as a proud mom of two, I have developed a deep understanding of children's developmental needs and the importance of creating positive, meaningful learning experiences.

I opened Walney Oaks Discovery House because I believe every child deserves a place that feels like a second home. After years of caring for children in my community and supporting local families, I wanted to create a warm, home-based setting where children can learn, explore, and grow at their own pace.

My goal is to provide a place where parents feel confident that their little ones are receiving attentive and loving care. By building trusting relationships with families and fostering a caring atmosphere, I hope to give each child a strong foundation for future success. 🏠

Philosophy:

Our philosophy is built on the belief that early childhood is a special time filled with opportunities for discovery, growth, and connection. Caring for children is meaningful work, and it is an honor to watch their curiosity, creativity, and confidence develop each day.

Through play-based learning and positive guidance, we aim to foster a sense of belonging and treat each child like family. We help children build confidence, independence, creativity, and the social skills needed to form meaningful relationships with others.

We support the whole child by promoting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth through engaging, hands-on activities and consistent daily routines. Our space is clean, organized, and welcoming so children can learn and explore safely.

Through open communication with families, compliance with state licensing requirements, and a focus on safety, consistency, and individualized care, we partner with parents to create a positive foundation for every child.

Daily Routine:

Our daily routine at Walney Oaks Discovery House provides a balanced mix of learning, play, and rest to support each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The morning begins with a warm welcome and free play to help children settle in, followed by fine-motor and sensory activities that encourage creativity, exploration, and problem-solving.

We then transition to circle time, where children socialize through songs, storytelling, and age-appropriate discussions about the weather, calendar, and other themes. Throughout the day, children participate in hands-on learning experiences that strengthen early literacy, math, science, and creative arts. These activities are designed to support their individual growth and developmental milestones.

When the weather permits, our schedule includes outdoor play, music, and movement. Children also receive nutritious meals and have opportunities to practice self-help skills that promote healthy habits, confidence, independence, and responsibility.

After a restful nap or quiet time in our dedicated nap room, children enjoy dramatic play and small-group activities that encourage imagination, communication, and positive social interactions. We end the day with free play, a reflection on the day's activities, and updates for parents so families can stay connected to their child's experiences, routines, and progress.
