About Me:
Hi, parents! Welcome to Woodlawn Park Kids Playhouse, my home-based daycare and preschool in Alexandria, VA! I am the owner and main caregiver of this nurturing child care and quality early childhood education program. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and I am CPR & First-aid certified.
I’ve been in the child care and teaching industry for over 25 years, so I understand your needs and concerns when it comes to finding safe, affordable and high-quality child care and early education.
Program:
My family child care and preschool program is open year-round from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. I can provide full-time care for infants as young as 4 weeks, as well as toddlers through preschooler up to 4 years old. Lunch and snacks are served to all children in my care (included in the tuition).
I take your child's well-being seriously. Our COVID procedures include washing hands at drop-off and monitoring temperatures. I clean the diaper station in between each diaper change and I soak toys to disinfect them at the end of the day to ensure a clean and safe environment for all children.
Curriculum:
I strongly believe that children learn through play and therefore, I follow a play-based learning approach. For me, this is the most effective way of helping every child to develop their skills while having fun at the same time. I also teach them how to share and interact with one another and other socializing skills. Infants are more exposed to sensory and developmental activities.
My little students always enjoy participating in our fun activities, such as coloring, learning ABCs, counting, singing, and dancing. When children arrive, they have a circle time where they learn the word of the day, shapes, colors, nursery rhymes, and more.
For infants, we focus on activities like tummy time, and singing songs. I have sensory books with pages that infants can touch to feel different textures. Toddlers have the opportunity to engage in arts and crafts and outdoor play. They also learn to write their names and trace words in preparation for school.

I feel happy and safe dropping my child off here every, single day. The staff is kind and loving. I know that my child gets individualized attention and care daily. It warms my heart seeing my child reach for the caretakers every day with excitement.

We love this childcare program. The staff is warm, friendly and wonderful with our child. We get daily pictures from staff to update us on what the children are doing. Children spend their day engaged in play, physical activity, music, and arts & crafts. We highly recommend.

The owner and her assistants are absolutely wonderful! We felt so comfortable from the moment we met her, she is loving, kind and caring and so professional. Our son is so excited to see her every day and looks so happy in all of the pictures she sends us through the day. We feel so happy knowing our son is in a safe and happy environment every day.

Our daughter is always excited to get to this daycare. She has learned so much in just the first few months at the daycare and they seem to genuinely treat the kids like their own. My favorite part is that this provider often texts us a picture or two of our daughter playing during the day. This provider is so great with our daughter. She is very patient and nurturing and forms genuine attachments with the children in her care. This provider is a wonderful care taker for my child. My son absolutely loves her and her family of helpers. He has been in her care since he was 3 months old and is almost 2 years old now. She's very accomodating to your schedule and for your child's needs. love my day care ladies, the kids love coming here, my infant likes them more than mom and dad some days. Its a safe environment, kids area is always kept clean and organized.
