Island Creek Little Cottage is open year-round, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We provide care for infants as young as 6 weeks old, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to age 5. Our flexible home-based child care program offers both full-time and part-time care, designed to meet the needs of busy families in the Alexandria area. To ensure a safe environment, we include peanut-free and tree-nut-free snacks in our tuition.

I’m the proud owner and lead caregiver at Island Creek Little Cottage. I bring over 9 years of hands-on experience in childcare, along with 2 additional years caring for the elderly. I’m also CPR and First Aid certified, so your child’s safety is always my top priority. When my first child was born, I chose to pause my caregiving career to stay home and be a full-time mom. But I quickly realized how much I missed working with children. That led me to open my own facility, allowing me to do what I love while staying close to my own family. Running this daycare gives me the perfect balance: I get to care for little ones in a loving, structured environment, all while raising my own children. I'm truly passionate about early childhood care and excited to provide a space where your child can feel happy, supported, and ready to thrive.

At Island Creek Little Cottage, I aim to create a warm, safe, and home-like atmosphere where children feel loved and confident, just like they would in their own home. I treat every child with kindness, respect, and the attention they deserve. As a mom myself, I know how important it is to start the day with care and intention. I bring that same dedication to every child I welcome each morning. My goal is to make sure your child feels valued, secure, and eager to learn each day.

Our program is rooted in play-based learning, where children discover, grow, and develop through fun and meaningful activities. We believe that play is one of the most powerful ways young children learn. By fostering curiosity and a love for learning, we help children build confidence and prepare for the next stage of their early education journey. Our daily activities include reading and story time, singing and music, arts and crafts, imaginative play, and outdoor play in our fully fenced backyard. These activities are designed to support development across key areas like language, motor skills, creativity, and social-emotional growth. Learning is always hands-on, engaging, and paced to each child’s needs.
