About

The Legacy Child Enrichment Center was formerly known as the Grey Stone Christian Learning Center. It was established in 1943 and is the longest continually running daycare center in the state of North Carolina. The Grey Stone Christian Learning Center operated out of an old, white mill house for over sixty years. The small house allowed the center to operate with about sixty children ages two to five. The CLC is proud to now expand into our new 5.2 million dollar, state-of-the-art facility that will house approximately 140 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. We may have a new building and a new name, but our dedication to serving the Durham community with superior childcare has not changed. The Legacy Center uses the ABEKA curriculum and teacher-developed lessons to engage children intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally in the classroom. The Legacy Center offers a rich variety of activities to develop a strong foundation and love of learning that will last a lifetime. Children will participate in circle time, various learning centers, and both independent and group activities that are carefully developed around a monthly theme. Children will develop an understanding of basic concepts in math and science, literacy and reading skills, fine and gross motor skills, social interaction and character development.
