Hello parents, and welcome to Alden Glen Playhouse, a warm and nurturing home-based daycare and preschool in the family-friendly Alden Glen subdivision of Fairfax, VA. Our location just off Holly Ave offers quick access to Lee Hwy (US 29), West Ox Rd (SR 608) and Fairfax County Pkwy (SR 286), making drop-off and pick-up simple for busy families searching for reliable child care in Fairfax. We’re also only minutes from Eagle View Elementary School and Dixie Hill Park, an added convenience for local parents.
We are open year-round, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Our home daycare program offers full-time and part-time care for infants starting at 3 months old, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 4 years of age. Tuition includes nutritious daily meals and fresh fruit, all prepared in a peanut- and tree nut-free environment.
The health, safety and well-being of every child in our care remain our top priority. Alden Glen Playhouse is an inclusive program that welcomes children who may benefit from a little extra support, including those with speech delays or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
I am the owner and primary caregiver at Alden Glen Playhouse, with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and certifications in CPR and First Aid. After 14 years working in Montessori schools and various child care centers, I realized how much I loved supporting children during their most important early years. I also wanted to create a more personal and intentional environment that feels like a true home away from home, something that can be hard to find in larger child care centers. That dream inspired me to open Alden Glen Playhouse.
By keeping the program small, I am able to focus on meaningful relationships, personalized learning experiences, and supporting each child’s unique development. In addition to English, I speak Farsi and can introduce your child to a second language if you wish. Caring for children is not just my profession; it is truly my passion and purpose.
Children bring light, curiosity and authenticity into every day. Our mission is to nurture those qualities by helping them build confidence, independence, and strong social and emotional skills. We provide structure that helps children feel secure, along with encouragement that inspires a lifelong love of learning. Whether it’s helping a shy child find their voice or celebrating small milestones, we meet each child where they are.
We also believe families are essential partners. We want Alden Glen Playhouse to feel like an extension of home, built on trust, open communication and genuine connection. The greatest reward is knowing children arrive excited each morning and parents feel fully confident in the care we provide.
At Alden Glen Playhouse, we use a Montessori-inspired curriculum designed to nurture independence and self-confidence. Our small-group environment allows each child to explore and learn at their own pace with individualized attention. Beyond early academics, we place a strong emphasis on emotional development, helping children build confidence, resilience and meaningful friendships.
Children here are not simply cared for; they are loved, encouraged and supported as if they were part of our own family. Through open communication and partnership with parents, we work together to create a foundation where children feel valued, understood, and truly at home. We strive to make Alden Glen Playhouse a place families can trust and eventually see as a second home.
Our day begins with a warm welcome and a gentle transition period, followed by independent shelf work using Montessori-inspired materials. Morning activities include fine motor development through puzzles, beading, and cutting practice, as well as practical life skills such as pouring, sorting and tidying. Learning time includes phonics, early math with manipulatives, name writing, pre-writing tracing, story time with comprehension discussions, and exploring the calendar through days, months and weather.
Afternoons focus on creativity, movement and social-emotional growth. Children enjoy process-based art, painting, clay, sensory bins, and music and movement. Outdoor play, gross motor activities and nature exploration help them stay active and engaged. Social skills are strengthened through sharing, turn-taking, guided conflict resolution and group games. The day ends with quiet time for rest or calm activities for non-nappers. Our consistent routine helps children feel secure while staying flexible to each child’s needs.
