About

United Community Centers helps to strengthen families by offering affordable quality licensed after-school childcare for Pre-K through age 13. United Community Centers is committed to the healthy development of the whole child - academically, physically, socially and emotionally. After-school care is provided during the school year. Full-day care (7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) is provided on select days during the school year and Monday through Friday ten weeks of the summer. United Community Centers developed an Education Enrichment Program, delivering a curriculum-based literacy program which supports and reinforces the literacy efforts of Fort Worth ISD. The goal of the program is to enable children and youth to read, write and comprehend; the basic academic building blocks for success in school and in life. Each child is assessed by an Educational Specialist to determine the comprehension, accuracy and fluency level of each child. Students are assigned to a group according to their level and use texts that are at their level. All children receive teacher-led “guided reading” instruction and are also involved in vocabulary and writing activities related to their texts.
