Welcome to Westleigh Discovery House! We are a licensed home-based daycare and preschool located in the peaceful Westleigh subdivision of Gaithersburg, MD. Conveniently situated just off Darnestown Rd (MD 28), between Muddy Branch Rd and Great Seneca Hwy (MD 119), our child care program offers easy access to Sam Eig Hwy (I-370) and Dwight D. Program:

Our child care program is open year-round, Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. We care for infants as young as 6 weeks old, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 6 years old. Families can choose from full-time and part-time care, and we also offer occasional drop-in child care based on individual needs.

At Westleigh Discovery House, we’re proud to provide a warm and inclusive environment where children of all abilities are welcomed with kindness, patience, and understanding. We provide supportive care for children with special needs, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and those who are hard of hearing. Because every child develops and learns differently, we encourage parents to reach out so we can learn more about your child’s individual needs and strengths and determine how we can best support them.

About Me:

Hello parents! I’m the owner and main caregiver at Westleigh Discovery House. I’m a proud mother of three with more than 17 years of child care experience, including 7 years working at a child care center and 10 years running my own family child care program. I’m CPR- and First Aid-certified and MAT-trained, which allows me to safely administer medication to children in my care when needed. In addition to English, I speak Urdu and Hindi, giving families the option for their children to have exposure to another language.

I believe the early years are an incredibly important time in a child’s life, and my goal is to fill those years with love, discovery, meaningful learning, and positive experiences. ❤ I want every child in my care to feel like they are in a second home, where they are safe, loved, and encouraged to learn and grow at their own pace. I look forward to welcoming your family and becoming a small but meaningful part of your child’s early years.

Facilities:

At Westleigh Discovery House, we provide a safe, affordable, and nurturing environment where children can learn through play and exploration. Our bright learning space features colorful carpets, engaging wall décor, curriculum displays, and age-appropriate learning materials. Children have access to blocks, puzzles, and activity sets designed for infants and younger toddlers, along with comfortable furnishings such as cribs, highchairs, and individual seating.

Keeping our daycare clean and comfortable is an important part of our daily routine. We regularly disinfect toys, tables, and other frequently touched surfaces throughout the day. At the end of each day, we complete a thorough cleaning routine that includes sanitizing toys, carpets, and larger play equipment so children can return to a fresh, clean, and welcoming space each morning.

Curriculum:

Our play-based preschool curriculum helps children develop early skills through meaningful, age-appropriate activities. Children are introduced to colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and other foundational concepts. Each morning includes circle time, where children learn about the letter of the day, discuss the weather, identify the day of the week, and practice communication and social skills.

Through a balance of guided activities and free play, we aim to make learning enjoyable while nurturing each child’s confidence, creativity, and independence. 🌱 Our goal is to help children build a strong foundation and feel prepared for the next stage of their education.
