Welcome to Laytonsville Knolls Playhouse, a licensed home-based daycare and preschool in Gaithersburg, MD. Our Gaithersburg child care program runs year-round, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We offer both full-time and part-time care for infants as young as newborns, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old. A daily menu of nutritious meals is included in tuition, all thoughtfully prepared in a peanut-free environment to support your child’s health and safety.

Hello Parents! I’m the owner and primary caregiver here at Laytonsville Knolls Playhouse, and I bring over 28 years of hands-on experience in early childhood care. I’m certified in CPR, First Aid, and MAT, and I hold an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. My background allows me to provide a nurturing, safe, and well-organized space for your child to learn and grow. My passion for child care began when I raised my own children and discovered how much I loved teaching and guiding young minds. That journey led me to open this daycare, where I focus on more than just academics. I help children develop kindness, confidence, good behavior, and lifelong values that will prepare them for school and beyond. As a fellow parent, I know how important it is to feel peace of mind when leaving your child in someone else’s care. I'm committed to creating a warm, loving environment where children are supported and families feel like part of our extended daycare family. I would be honored to welcome you into our community!

We start our day with drop-off between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. For children who haven’t had breakfast at home, we provide a rotating menu of healthy morning meals. After breakfast, the kids wash their hands and choose their first activity, which encourages independence and decision-making. We then gather for a 15-minute circle time to discuss the day, the weather, and introduce the letter and color of the week. Spanish is spoken throughout the day, and upon request, we offer tailored Spanish lessons to support your child’s language development and cultural appreciation. All learning activities are centered around a weekly theme, making education fun and interactive. Weather permitting, we enjoy 30 minutes of outdoor play every morning. Children explore, move, and get fresh air before returning indoors for themed activities: often arts and crafts or storytelling tied to the week’s lesson. Around noon, we serve lunch and transition to quiet time in our dedicated nap room. After naptime, we offer a healthy snack, followed by more play and learning before pickup.
