About

The Montessori program’s child care and educational experience is based on the continuing self-discovery of the child and his/her acclimation to the learning process through every stage of personal development. It builds on the continuing self-construction of the child – daily, weekly, yearly – for the duration of the educational experience. Each of our classrooms have multi-age groupings that foster peer learning, uninterrupted blocks of work time, and guided choice of work activity. Multi-age groupings are a hallmark of the Montessori Method: younger children learn from older children; older children reinforce their learning by teaching concepts they have already mastered. This arrangement also mirrors the real world, where individuals work and socialize with people of all ages and dispositions. The prepared environments of each classroom, along with their physical dimensions, desired outcomes, and documented results, carefully reflect the natural learning characteristics of the child at each stage of development. Dr. Maria Montessori believed that “the successive levels of education must conform to the successive personalities of the child.”
