Young Horizons Child Development Centers, Long Beach

Young Horizons is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was established in 1969 as a school for children with special needs. In 1984, we recognized the growing need in Long Beach for state-funded childcare serving low-income families. We accepted the challenge and have since grown to five centers, all of which are located in high-need areas in Long Beach. We care for and educate 458 children, ages six months to five years old, each year. Affordable child care continues to be a critically needed service. Because of our services, parents who cannot afford private child care are able to go to work, look for work, or attend school, knowing their child is cared for and learning in a safe, loving, and high-quality environment. Through our programs, we help our children gain the confidence and skills necessary to prepare them socially, emotionally, academically, and physically to enter Kindergarten, ready to interact and eager to learn.
