About

The Jeffrey Foundation is a non-profit organization that strives to improve the quality of life for special needs children and their families through the development of community-based therapeutic, recreational, educational, and social programs. We are currently celebrating our 42nd year in Los Angeles. Our programs have benefited thousands of special needs children and their families. The typical Jeffrey Foundation family consists of a single working mother, one special child and two brothers or sisters. Some of the special needs children we serve suffer from diseases such as muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome, and autism. Others are the victims of abuse, crippling accidents, sight, speech, and hearing impediments or in utero drug exposure. No matter what the challenge a child faces, the Jeffrey Foundation is dedicated to helping all children to reach their highest potential, supporting the development of a healthy family environment, and helping parents cope with the constant strain of caring for a special needs child. Our services are designed to support special needs children of every age, from infants to young adults, and their entire families. In order to do this, we provide direct care to special needs children including educational, creative, and recreational activities that foster the children's academic, social, and behavioral development to prepare them for every stage of life. Time spent in these programs benefits the family as well. Parents are given the opportunity to tend to other children or pursue career opportunities that often improve the standard of living for the whole family. Siblings and other relatives are relieved of childcare duties that can be overwhelming at times. To strengthen families, the Jeffrey Foundation goes further, offering parenting classes, support groups and family counseling to relieve the stress and emotional side effects of living with a disability. The Jeffrey Foundation is fully-licensed as a child care center by the Department of Social Services and is an approved services provider for the State Regional Centers for the Developmentally Disabled. The foundation is also recognized by the City Department of Disability, the Community Development Department and the Los Angeles Unified School District.
