Welcome to your child’s future home away from home, Cherrywood Kids Playhouse! We are a licensed home-based daycare and preschool located in the family-friendly Cherrywood neighborhood of Olney, MD.

Our program is conveniently situated near Georgia Avenue (MD 97) and the Intercounty Connector (MD 200), right next to Olney Golf Park. We’re also just minutes from Olney Elementary School and Cherrywood Local Park, making drop-offs and pick-ups quick and easy for busy families.

Program:

Cherrywood Kids Playhouse offers a year-round child care program, open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. We provide both full-time and part-time care options for infants (starting at 3 months), toddlers, and preschool-aged children up to 5 years old.

About Me:

Hello Parents! Cherrywood Kids Playhouse is a family-centered daycare founded and operated by a mother-daughter team with a combined 29 years of experience in early childhood education. I bring 7 years of experience, while my mother brings 22 years of dedication to nurturing young children. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and am certified in CPR and First Aid, ensuring a safe, secure, and enriching environment for every child.

Our mission is to create a warm and welcoming space that feels like an extension of your home, where every child is loved, supported, and inspired to grow. We look forward to welcoming your family into our close-knit community of learning and care.

Curriculum:

Our program follows the Montessori approach, promoting independence, curiosity, and creativity through hands-on learning experiences. Alongside English, I speak both Singhalese and Spanish, and enjoy introducing children to new languages and cultures through songs, storytelling, and everyday conversation.

Our indoor space includes a cozy nap room and a calming fish aquarium that sparks curiosity and wonder. Outside, children can explore a peaceful garden and take part in planting and harvesting in our vegetable garden, an activity that teaches them about nature, healthy eating, and responsibility.

For nursing parents, we also provide a comfortable and private breastfeeding room, allowing quiet bonding time with your little one during visits.
