Welcome to Highland Stone Kids Playhouse! We are a licensed daycare and preschool program located in the heart of the neighborhood of Highland Stone in Potomac, MD, just off Liberty Ln and 2 minutes away from Falls Rd. We are also conveniently located near Beverly Farms Elementary School and Dwight D. Eisenhower Hwy (I-270).

Program:

Highland Stone Kids Playhouse is open year-round, offering both full-time and part-time care, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM. We offer child care for infants as young as 3 months old to toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years of age. To ensure the safety of all children, we maintain a peanut-free and tree-nut-free environment. Nutritious snacks are provided daily and are included as part of the tuition!

About Me:

Hello Parents! I am the primary caregiver and owner of Highland Stone Kids Playhouse! I am a mother of 2, bringing over 9 years of child care experience, and a Bachelor's Degree in Medicine. Additionally, I am trained and certified in CPR, First Aid, and MAT.

As a parent, I know how important it is to find care that feels like family. I opened Highland Stone Kids Playhouse, out of a true passion for child development and creating a safe, nurturing space where little ones can grow, learn, and feel at home. This isn’t just a job for me, it’s a meaningful way to support working parents while doing what I love most!

Philosophy:

Children's early years are full of curiosity, imagination, and unlimited potential. Our goal is to nurture each child’s growth by creating a warm, supportive environment where they feel safe, confident, and valued.

In our warm, home-like setting, each child is treated with love, patience, and individual attention. By keeping our group small, we ensure every child gets the care and support they need to grow with confidence and joy.

With a medical background, we prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of every child. Parents can feel confident knowing their little ones are cared for in a clean, secure setting that supports healthy development and important milestones.

We also focus on building trusting relationships, not only with the children, but also with their families. We know that parenting has its ups and downs, and we are here to offer encouragement, communication, and support every step of the way!

Daily Activities:

Our daily routine offers a blend of structure and flexibility, designed to support each child's learning, creativity, and well-being. This schedule is flexible to meet the needs of each child including children with disabilities and special health care needs. Infants follow their own schedule for napping, diapering and feeding.

Here's a look at a typical day:

✔ Morning Circle Time – Songs, greetings, calendar, weather talk, calm mindfulness activities.
✔ Themed Learning – Weekly topics like “Ocean Life” or “Community Helpers” with stories, sensory play, and discussions.
✔ Literacy & Math Centers – Fun hands-on activities that build early reading & math skills.
✔ Creative Art & Fine Motor Play – Painting, crafting, and exploring materials that boost creativity and coordination.
✔ Outdoor Play – Time to run, climb, and play while developing gross motor and social skills.
✔ STEM Exploration – Simple science, building, and observation activities that inspire curiosity.
✔ Music & Movement – Singing, dancing, and rhythm games to support physical development & joy.
✔ Rest Time – After lunch, children enjoy a break with calming music or stories.
✔ Afternoon Enrichment – Imaginative play, group projects, and wrap-up with parent check-ins and daily updates with notes or photos.
