Welcome to Kanak Asthana Family Child Care, a trusted home daycare and preschool in Reston, VA. With over 20 years of experience in early childhood education, I hold a Bachelor's in Education and a Master's in Psychology, and I’ve worked as a teacher around the world before opening my own daycare in 2006. Along with my dedicated team—who are all CPR, First Aid, and MAT certified—we provide a loving, safe, and structured space where every child can grow and thrive. As moms ourselves, we care deeply about each child’s well-being and treat them like family.
Our year-round child care program serves infants, toddlers, and preschoolers from 1 week to 5 years old, including children with special needs. We offer full-time and part-time care between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm, with daily learning experiences tailored to each child’s level and style. We use a play-based preschool curriculum enriched with yoga, reading, early literacy visits from the Fairfax Library, and even second-grade level academics for advanced learners. Children also enjoy outdoor play, seasonal celebrations, and exposure to languages like Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, and American Sign Language upon request.

My kid absolutely loved his days with this caregiver. Previously he used to cry whenever we left him in other daycares; never had that issue at this daycare.
In fact picking him up was a 15 min process on account of him not wanting to come and just wanting to play.
He did learn quite a lot at the daycare, including addition, substraction and multiplication. And, I believe, that helped him develop a good core in math.

We’ve sent our daughter here for about a year and a half, since she was 3 months old. We couldn’t be happier. She is a wonderful lady who clearly cares very much for the children. We feel very fortunate to have found her. Our daughter loves it.

We really love this daycare. We have been in other daycares in the area, and this provider is noticeably more loving and caring than others. She genuinely cares about our son and family. She puts so much effort into the kids learning and having fun. We just love it here! I would recommend it to anyone.

This childcare facility is so close to our hearts. She is like family to us. We have known her for over 15 years. Our son went to this provider from Ashburn. We trust her the most therefore distance did not matter for us. She is reasonably priced and I cannot say enough good things about her and her daycare.

This daycare has been a wonderful experience for my girls. The very first week my daughter attended, they already got her going to the potty which is amazing! They provide excellent care and education. I know my girls are in good hands.

This provider is a very attentive, caring and loving caregiver or teacher which every kid needs. My son was in her care for almost 4 years. We were very concerned with the development of our child and with the great reviews on this place we started sending our kid here, Not even a single day we don't talk about what a best decision we made , we saw a huge difference in personal development . My son is going here for 3 years; we have moved out of area now, but not changing the daycare despite our 40 minutes increased commute. In addition to below, what stands out for us is our child's knowledge and learning skills are exponentially growing under this provider.

My daughter attended this place from the time she was 6 months to 5 years old. Under this provider's care my daughter rarely fell ill, she was always learning new things and there were lots of fun activities throughout the year. My daughter even learnt basics of reading and math giving her a smooth transition into kindergarten. This place has a safe, clean and friendly environment and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking good child care.

One of the best place for kids day care. Kid will build up nice behavior and education. I honestly could not speak highly enough about this Childcare and the amazing job that this provider and the teaching staff do. We have been with the center for 4.5 years; our oldest started at 3 months old and our youngest started at 6 months old.

The provider and her staff are excellent. Both my children attended from ages 4 months to 5 years old. She provides a loving and safe environment for the children, as well as a strong curriculum that is age appropriate at every level. Both my children left her care reading proficiently and with a good base knowledge of math. Hours and location are very convenient in Reston.
