First Presbyterian Evangelical Preschool & MDO, Roanoke

The Preschool provides a creative and developmentally-appropriate learning environment for children from the ages of 10 months through 5 years. Our staff consists of well-qualified, nurturing, and supportive teachers who are experienced in teaching young children. The Preschool holds memberships and participation in the Southwest Virginia Association for Early Childhood Education, Southern Early Childhood Association, and National Association for the Education of Young Children. Based on the belief that children learn through play and meaningful experiences, the teachers plan and prepare a wide variety of center-based learning activities for the children to investigate first-hand. Components of the curriculum include the development and reinforcement of social awareness, self-discipline, independence and safety, literature and language skills, math, science, art and creative expression, movement, and fine and gross motor strengths. In addition, a resource teacher in the area of music is integrated into the program. Spiritual growth and development is reinforced in the weekly chapel program offered to all children.
