Welcome to Arcola Playhouse, my licensed home-based daycare and preschool in Silver Spring, MD. My child care facility is located in the Arcola community (near Arcola Local Park and Arcola Elementary School). We're right off Arcola Ave and just a minute away from Georgia Ave (route 97). Your daily commute to work will be very convenient since I have easy access to University Blvd W (route 193) and Colesville Rd (US-29).
About Me:
I’m a professional caregiver with CPR & First-aid certified, so the children under my care are safe at all times. Before opening my own daycare, I also worked in a nursing home. Like you, I’m a mom myself and I can relate to your needs and concerns when it comes to finding the best daycare for your little one.
Working with kids always puts a smile on my face! They are loving individuals, enthusiastic, honest, and curious. My goal is to help them reach their full potential in all developmental areas such as intellectual, physical, social, and emotional.
Program:
Arcola Playhouse follows the Play-based learning approach, allowing children to learn through play. Kids will surely enjoy my large private backyard playground with swings, slides, and age-appropriate toys. We spend our outdoor playtime there if the weather permits. I also have lots of books, and kids also work with puzzles and art supplies.
In addition to English, I speak Amharic fluently and upon request, I can teach your child this foreign language (however, please note that my daycare is not a bilingual or full immersion program).
I’m open all year round from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Mondays through Fridays. I offer full-time and part-time care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers between the age of 6 weeks and 5 years old. Peanut and tree-nut free snacks are provided to all kids in my care (already included in the tuition).

We love this daycare! my daughter is always happy to see her caregiver when we drop her off, and she has been willing to acommodate all our requests. I can tell that she truely cares about the kids in her care and loves each one. I feel good going to work everyday knowing that my daughter is having fun, learning, and being well taken care of.

The caregiver has become an extension of our family. We are so lucky to have her and her facility in our life as she is incredibly patient, kind, warm and loving. My husband and I feel so lucky to have found this caregiver! Our 2.5 year-old has been going to her daycare for the past 7 months and is thriving there. This provider is an angel and the absolute best. She cared for my son for 2 years and became a second mom to him. She is very warm, patient, fun, and loving. Children absolutely love her. This is a great place to send your little ones. My boy was going to the daycare when he was 2 years old, and he was happy to go there each day. The owner is a very caring and loving person, she treats all the children like her own. She is very responsible and reliable. I remember being a first time mother and crying as I left my son when he was six weeks old. I owe it to this amazing daycare and the big hearted caretakers who made my son feel home and gave me the assurance and confidence.
