Burnt Mills Knolls Playhouse, Silver Spring

Burnt Mills Knolls Playhouse is a small, nurturing child care program in Silver Spring, MD! I'm the owner and main caregiver and I run my licensed home daycare with my assistant. Together, we have 13 years of combined child care experience. We are a mother ourselves, so we can relate to your challenges and concerns when it comes to finding the best child care program. We are CPR and First-aid certified, as well as MAT trained so we can administer medication to children, if needed. Due to possible allergies, I run peanut and tree-nut free environment.

Our home-based daycare is open year-round from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We provide full-time care for infants as young as 5 weeks, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old, and part-time care for children between the ages of 2 years and 5 years old. For school-age kids up to 12 years old, we can offer before and after school care (we are close to Cresthaven Elementary School, Pine Crest Elementary School, and Burnt Mills Elementary School). We clean the daycare during nap time and at the end of each day to ensure a clean and safe environment for all children.

We believe that children learn and develop valuable skills through play, so we follow the Play-based learning approach. Our young students explore shapes, opposites, days of the week, body parts, and farm animals. We also help them learn good manners like saying please and thank you. If weather permits, we go outside and enjoy outdoor playtime in our large backyard playground. In addition to English, we speak Tigrinya and Amharic and at your request, we can expose your child to these foreign languages (however, my daycare is not a bilingual daycare).

Burnt Mills Knolls Playhouse is in the Burnt Mills Knolls community in Silver Spring, MD. Our child care facility is right off New Hampshire Ave (route 650), near Hillandale Local Park (between the White Oak and Hillandale areas of Silver Spring).
