Hello parents, and welcome to Nottingham Woods Wonderland! 👋 We’re a licensed, home-based daycare and preschool program located in the family-friendly Nottingham Wood subdivision in Silver Spring, MD. Our convenient location just off Randolph Rd provides easy access to New Hampshire Ave (MD 650) and the Intercounty Connector (MD 200).

Program:

Nottingham Woods Wonderland is open year-round, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. We offer several child care options to meet the needs and schedules of families in our Silver Spring community.

We care for infants starting as young as 6 weeks old, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children up to 12 years old. Our child care options include:

We welcome children with different abilities and developmental needs. We provide nurturing care for children with special needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and speech delays. We also accept eligible child care vouchers and subsidies to help families access quality child care. Our goal is to provide loving, dependable care that is accessible to as many families in our community as possible, while helping make the child care process easier and less stressful for parents.

About Me:

Hi there! I am the owner and main caregiver at Nottingham Woods Wonderland. I have more than 21 years of experience in child care, including several years working as a daycare assistant, and I have had the privilege of caring for and supporting children throughout some of their most important early years.

As a parent myself, I understand how important it is for families to find a child care provider they can trust. That understanding, combined with my passion for nurturing children, inspired me to open Nottingham Woods Wonderland. I want every child in my care to feel welcomed with kindness and receive the individual attention and support they need to flourish. I am also CPR and First Aid certified, and I make children’s safety and well-being a priority each day.

My background also extends beyond child care. I earned an Associate’s Degree in Banking and Finance, which provided me with a strong foundation in professionalism, organization, and responsible business management. I am proud to combine that education with more than two decades of hands-on child care experience in creating a home daycare that families can feel confident choosing.

For me, operating Nottingham Woods Wonderland is about much more than owning a daycare. It is an opportunity to positively impact children’s lives, support parents and guardians, and help create a strong foundation for each child’s future.

Philosophy:

At Nottingham Woods Wonderland, my philosophy is centered on the belief that caring for children means more than simply providing child care. I strive to create a place where children feel safe, loved, supported, and genuinely cared for, just as I would want for my own children.

Working with children and their families is especially meaningful to me because I have the privilege of witnessing their growth during these important early years. I enjoy watching children learn new skills, develop their personalities, gain confidence, and reach new milestones.

I believe children learn best when they feel secure and supported. Throughout the day, I provide opportunities to learn through play, creativity, exploration, and meaningful everyday experiences. Every child is unique, so I make it a priority to recognize and respect each child’s individual needs, interests, and pace of development.

Families also play an important role in a child’s success. I believe open communication and trust are the foundation of a strong relationship between families and caregivers. I want parents to feel comfortable sharing their goals, questions, and concerns, knowing that their child is receiving patient, compassionate, and dependable care.

My goal is for children to feel that they truly belong at Nottingham Woods Wonderland while giving their families peace of mind. I hope to provide each child with a foundation of love, learning, confidence, and positive experiences that they can carry with them as they grow.

Daily Activities:

Our daily activities at Nottingham Woods Wonderland are designed to give children a fun, engaging, and nurturing environment where they can learn through play and exploration. We begin with morning circle time, where we greet one another, sing songs, listen to stories, and talk together about our day. Children also participate in early learning activities that introduce letters, sounds, numbers, colors, and shapes through hands-on experiences.

Creative activities include arts and crafts, painting, coloring, and drawing. Children also enjoy sensory play with water, sand, playdough, and other age-appropriate materials that encourage them to explore using their senses. Fine motor activities such as puzzles, building blocks, and sorting help children develop coordination and problem-solving skills, while pretend play encourages creativity through activities such as playing in a pretend kitchen, ice cream shop, or with dolls.

Throughout the day, children have opportunities to develop physical, social-emotional, and everyday life skills. Outdoor activities include playground time, dancing, running, ball games, and riding age-appropriate bikes. We practice sharing, taking turns, solving problems, and treating others with kindness and respect to help children strengthen their social-emotional skills.

We also encourage independence and responsibility through everyday routines such as washing hands between meals, cleaning up, and putting away belongings. During quiet time, children can relax with books, calming music, or stories, along with scheduled naps.

Every activity at Nottingham Woods Wonderland provides another opportunity for children to learn, grow, explore, and build confidence in a safe and supportive home-away-from-home environment.
