About Us
Welcome to Tanglewood Kids Playhouse, our home daycare and preschool in Silver Spring, MD. I started this daycare, not as a business, but first, it was because I couldn't find a good place for my son. When I saw how we could help others and make a difference in a child's life, I loved it.
I’m the owner and main caregiver and I have 12 years of experience. I hold an Associate's Degree In Management and I run the daycare with my co-provider who has 5 years of experience. We’re CPR and First-aid certified, as well as MAT trained so we can administer medication to all children in our care if needed.
Like you, as parents, we know what you want for your little one when it comes to safe child care and a quality early learning experience. At our daycare, all children are treated as if they were our own. We provide a loving, safe and nurturing environment where your child can grow and foster.
Our Program & Curriculum
Tanglewood Kids Playhouse is open year-round from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We provide full-time care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers between the age of 2 weeks and 5 years old, including children with special needs. Our facility is peanut-free and tree-nut free, and we serve breakfast and snacks to all kids attending our program (already included in the tuition!)
Our goal is to help kids start their life journey smoothly. Through our personalized curriculum, we teach our students to read so they are ready for kindergarten when they leave our program. We also engage them in fun, educational activities such as Baking, Writing, Music, Arts & Crafts, and Story Time. And they are always looking forward to participating in our annual field trip!
In addition to English, we speak Amharic fluently and upon request, we can expose your child to this foreign language (however, please note that we’re not a bilingual program).
Location
Tanglewood Kids Playhouse is located in the Tanglewood neighborhood of Fairland, Silver Spring, MD. Our facility is right off Fairland Rd, near the Galverton-Galway Local Park. Your commute to work will be convenient since we’re close to Columbia Pike (US-29) and the Intercounty Connector (route 200), and a few minutes from the I-95. I cannot recommend this daycare enough. Both of my children (2yo and 7mo) started with this provider when they were 8 weeks old and she cares for them like they are her own children. She is trustworthy, compassionate, and professional. My kids simply adore her!

The owner is very loving and hands on with the children. My daughter started at 6 weeks of age and is now 2.5 years old. Since starting, she has taught her the alphabet, nursing rhymes, colors, animals, phonics, etc. I definitely like the personalized attention and smaller class sizes.

This caregiver is amazing and we are so glad we found her. Our child has been enrolled for a little more than a year and we couldn't be happier. She treats every child like her own, and works with parents by listening to concerns/suggestion parents have. I highly recommend this daycare!! When we moved to Maryland from across the country, we didn't know a soul. This made finding someone who we trusted to take care of our son a bit nerve-wracking, but then we found this caregiver and we felt so much better. We love this provider & her family and Ms M. she treats the kids like her own and not just some number there a number in her family and her family is our family and I wouldn’t have it any other way , you can tell she loves her job and the kids and our kids love her as well. When I initially began my search for a child care provider, I dreaded the idea of putting my infant child in daycare. The thought scared me; However, these providers quickly put me at ease. They are both extremely caring, gentle, and exhibit patience. My child has learned so much in his first year. I have no regrets. My child absolutely loves getting up and going to daycare each morning!

My daughter loves this place. And so do I. Very clean facility, friendly and caring stuff who treat kids like their own , lots of entertaining and developmental activities during the day and, of course, always happy face of your child. My twins have been with this provider for the last 3 years and we couldn’t have asked for a better person to help raise our babies. They have learned and grown so much. This provider treats all of the children as if they were her own and makes you feel like you are part of her family! We are truly blessed to have found a place like this!!

Both of my children were with this provider from the time they were 3 mo. old until they graduated to go to Pre-K. This provider is the best and I highly recommend her. She truly cares about the children and treats each child as if it were her own. Both of my children were able to read and write by the time they graduated from this provider’s care. This helped them start school with confidence. She is a wonderful caretaker and teacher!
