Longmead Crossing Playhouse is open year-round, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. We offer both full-time and part-time child care for infants (as young as 5 weeks) through toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old.

Hi parents! I’m the owner and lead caregiver at Longmead Crossing Playhouse. With over 15 years of experience in early childhood education, I’m a licensed provider and certified in CPR and First Aid, ensuring your child’s safety is always a top priority. I opened this program out of a deep love for children and a passion for creating a nurturing environment that feels like an extension of home. After several years working in child care, I realized I could offer something truly personal. This is a place where relationships matter and children feel seen, supported, and celebrated. It brings me so much joy to watch children grow, build friendships, and hit exciting developmental milestones. As a fellow parent, I understand how much trust it takes to leave your child in someone else’s care. I take that responsibility to heart and strive to be the kind of provider I would want for my own child. We’re here to work together to help your child grow into a kind, confident, and happy little human.

At Longmead Crossing Playhouse, we combine love and structure through a play-based learning approach that encourages curiosity, creativity, and social development. Each day follows a predictable rhythm filled with hands-on activities, gentle guidance, and joyful exploration. We take the time to understand each child’s personality and learning style. Our goal is to foster independence, emotional growth, and strong communication skills. Life skills like self-care, helping with clean-up, and showing kindness are woven into the daily routine to support the development of confident, caring young learners. With a strong focus on early childhood development, ongoing communication with families, and a genuine passion for teaching, we aim to be a place where children thrive and parents feel fully supported every step of the way.

Our day begins with a smooth transition into the morning through free play, where children engage in imaginative play and building activities. Once everyone has arrived, we gather for circle time, singing songs, greeting each other, and talking about the weather and calendar. Weekly themes like animals, space, community helpers, and emotions keep learning fresh and exciting. Mornings are dedicated to foundational skills in literacy, early math, and science through hands-on learning. In addition to English, I speak Amharic fluently. If you're interested, I’m happy to introduce your child to Amharic as a second language through fun, age-appropriate activities. We also explore the world around us through stories, games, nature walks, and simple science experiments that encourage curiosity and self-paced learning. Outdoor play happens daily (weather permitting), giving children time to ride bikes, draw with chalk, blow bubbles, and observe nature. After lunch, we settle in for rest or nap time with soft music and books. In the afternoon, we enjoy small-group activities like puzzles, fine motor tasks, and creative art projects. We also practice life skills that support independence and social development. Each week includes music and movement activities such as dancing, rhythm games, and playing simple instruments to build coordination and confidence. All activities are thoughtfully tied to our weekly theme, helping children feel engaged, curious, and eager to learn. By the end of each day, our goal is for your child to leave feeling joyful, confident, and excited to share their day with you! 😊
