Program:
Cozy Corner Family Child Care is an ideal choice for families seeking a warm, home-like environment where children are encouraged to play, learn, and explore at their own pace. Inside, the bright and colorful environment is clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully arranged with a wide range of age-appropriate toys, books, and materials designed to engage young minds through hands-on learning.
The caregiver provides nutritious snacks daily, while parents are asked to send packed lunches. The facility is completely peanut- and tree-nut-free, ensuring a safe environment for all children. Nursing mothers are welcome to stop by during the day, with a private space available for feeding or pumping, or they may provide expressed milk for their child. Cozy Corner also participates in a subsidized child care program, making high-quality care more accessible to families.
Health, cleanliness, and communication are top priorities. All toys and learning materials are sanitized daily, and any minor injuries, such as bumps or scrapes, are reported to parents immediately via phone, in writing, and again at pickup. Cozy Corner is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where children can feel secure, happy, and inspired to learn.
Learning Environment
Cozy Corner Family Child Care in Spencerville offers a play-based, yet structured environment. The teacher uses educational guidelines from MSDE to develop individualized learning plans, and classrooms are organized around centers that offer children choices in regards to the type of activities they want to do. There are lots of hands-on activities throughout the day, and the curriculum includes individualized lesson plans. The word “No” isn't used with the children, and any discipline takes place through redirection.
Development-based curriculum focuses on teaching problem-solving skills and provides the same level of attention to all subjects. Reading and writing, math and science, as well as American Sign Language, are part of the daily curriculum to ensure children are meeting goals established by both the parent and teacher. Milestone-based evaluations are conducted twice a year, and assessments are given on a daily basis to parents. Cozy Corner also welcomes families with an open-door policy, encouraging parents to visit anytime and be actively involved in their child’s growth.
Teaching is Arjumand's joy, passion, and purpose. It has been said that a “hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the kind of car I drove, or the type of house I lived in, but the world may be different, because I was important in the life of a child.” The children she teaches are not only her students; rather, they each become a part of her family.
