West Virginia Ave Playhouse, Washington DC

West Virginia Ave Playhouse is a licensed home-based daycare and preschool in Washington, DC. We’re located in the Ivy City neighborhood, near Lewis Crowe Park. Our place is perfect for your daily commute to work since we’re very accessible and close to major roads, such as New York Ave NW/NE (US-50) and Bladensburg NE/Maryland AVE NE (US-1). Our family child care program is open all year-round from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Mondays to Fridays. We provide full-time care for newborn babies, as well as toddlers through preschoolers up to 5 years old. To prevent any possible allergies, we maintain a peanut and tree-nut free environment. We can offer meals to children in our care (breakfast, lunch and snacks) but please note that there is an additional fee for these meals (please inquire about this). Our space is really nice with an open design and a modern atmosphere. There are vibrant carpets, wall decor, educational charts posted on the walls, age-appropriate toys, and activity sets for infants and toddlers.

I’m the owner and main caregiver, and I have a decade of experience in child care and early childhood education. I hold a Child Development Associate's Degree and CPR & First-aid certifications. I run my daycare with my 2 assistants who have 35 years of combined experience. We’re all moms, so we can certainly relate to your child care needs and concerns. Our team ensures that every child receives plenty of individualized attention, and that they are happy and feel loved :)

We’re dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, enriching, and happy environment ensuring school readiness. Our daycare addresses these goals through our Creative Curriculum with lots of activities that foster a strong bond between staff and children, as well as through programs that provide age-appropriate learning experiences that strive to balance structured activities with sensitivity to each child’s readiness to learn. We engage the kids in daily interactive activities. We have soft books where infants and toddlers can feel the pages to develop sensory skills. We sing songs and learn about different cultures across the world, so that children are well-rounded when they enter school. We also do exercises like Zumba to keep active and not spend too much screen time.
