Founded in 1998 in the heart of Sterling, Virginia, Building Blocks Learning Academy is a private school that offers educational services to children from ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Notably, we utilize curriculums that have been specially designed to promote learning and development of the whole child. Our curriculums focus on the following vital areas: Social, Physical, Cognitive, Emotional, and Language. Simply put, we strive to ensure that our young students are developing completely so that they can become successful and well-rounded individuals. At Building Blocks Learning Academy, we offer so much to help young minds grow—including curriculum topics that span every aspect of child development. Our Baby Bright Infant Program is designed to nurture individual infants, while respecting the differences in culture and lifestyle needs of the children and families we serve. For toddlers ranging from 16 months to 24 months, we feature Baby Bright Toddler Programs, which provide developmentally appropriate, safe, inclusive, and engaging creative environments. Our Young Explorers Program is ideal for two and three-year-olds, and focuses on such learning skills as: alphabet, color concepts, and numbers/shapes. For pre-school kids, BBLA features a Jr. Academics Program, which promotes exploring through play. Further, BBLA offers a Jr. Academic Pre-K Program for four-year-olds that equips them with the tools to have a successful and positive Kindergarten experience. We also provide expanded learning opportunities with our School-age Kidz Klub I and II Programs. A high-quality Before and After School program, Kidz Club supports developmentally appropriate cognitive, social, physical, and emotional outcomes. Whether aged Kindergarten to 2nd Grade (Kidz Klub 1), or 3rd – 5th grade (Kidz Klub II), our young students enjoy receiving academic support, art enrichment, recreation, and nutrition.

Hopkins House Innovative Preschool Academy
The Hopkins House Preschool Academy is a true "school." Our focus, in addition to offering a safe-haven for the children, is educating and preparing them for exceptional achievement in kindergarten and beyond. At the Hopkins House Preschool Academy, we value families and the central role they play as first teachers of their children; we value age-appropriate teaching methods founded on best practices and implemented by well-educated and trained educators; and, we value activities in the classroom that allow children to explore, experiment, imitate, ask questions and be questioned. In collaboration with RAND Corporation, a prestigious national think-tank, Hopkins House has set out four key purposes for this Innovative Preschool Academy: 1. Measurable and consistent delivery of excellent Early Childhood Education (ECE). 2. Relentless pursuit of improvement in ECE within the academy. 3. Spin-off of such improvements for other academies within the Hopkins House system. 4. Generation of results, promising approaches, and hypotheses for the wider field of ECE practice and research. Class size is limited and only the most experienced and well-trained educators are employed at the academy. To be clear, this Innovative Preschool Academy is not "experimental." Because the first obligation is to its Young Scholars (i.e. the children), only proven or promising approaches are considered. The Innovative Preschool Academy emphasizes the following: - High quality teachers and teaching - Excellent Facilities and ample supplies - Parent engagement - Experienced and knowledgeable management leadership - Year-round education - State-of-the-art curriculum - Standards and metrics - Linkage with research and study

Gull Kashar Family Child Care

A little about myself, I have MAT, CPR & first aid certifications. I also have a masters degree in child psychology. As I mentioned in my ad, I have... been running my home day care for almost 18 years. I take 16 hours of child care training every year to renew my child care license. I use my entire house for the daycare, as I don't believe in bounding the kids in only one section of my home, like some people have basement-only daycares. Each child in my daycare has their own bedroom with their own crib, so that their nap wont be disturbed by the other kids, unlike a nursery where all the cribs are lined up together. I believe that sleep is very important for little kids. 99\% of kids I have had in the past have been infants and I have helped grow into toddlers. These kids left my daycare when it was time for them to go to preschool. I help the kids build a base foundation of necessary skills they will need when they go off to preschool, like learning the alphabet, colors, shapes, etc. During the day, the kids and I read books, play pretend games, play with many many toys that I have, and we also go out into my backyard where I have a play set including swings and multiple slides that we play on, according to the weather. My rate is $300 per week per child. My house is located in Herndon, Virginia which is only 15 minutes from Dulles airport. My hours are around 8am-5:30pm, but can be adjusted. Please contact me for references from previous parents whose children I have cared for. I hope I have interested you all and I look forward to taking care of your children.

Forest Edge Playhouse

About Our Staff Welcome to Forest Edge Playhouse, our licensed home daycare and preschool in Reston, VA. I’m the owner and lead teacher and I have... 20 years of experience in providing quality child care and early childhood education. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Master’s Degree in Psychology. Before opening my daycare in 2006, I worked as a teacher in different countries. I really love working with children, and this made me decide to open my own daycare! My staff and I are CPR and First-aid certified, as well as MAT trained so we can administer medication to all children in our care. We are a team of moms, and like all parents, we want what’s best for your precious little one! We strive to create a nurturing, happy and safe environment where every child can learn and grow, and develop their full potential. Philosophy & Curriculum We believe that each child is unique, so we provide individualized attention and tailor daily activities to their needs and abilities. Daily activities help develop fine motor skills (e.g. puzzles, writing or coloring), gross motor skills (e.g.large block building or outdoor exercise), manners and hygiene (e.g. washing hands and proper greeting) and of course, socio-emotional skills with free play! We know that children learn best through play and fun, engaging experiences which is why we allow them to explore new things and have fun while learning. Forest Edge Playhouse follows the Play-based learning principles – an effective approach to develop each child’s valuable skills. Our place has lots of educational and fun activities in store for them such us circle time, rhymes, yoga, reading, writing and much more! We have a school readiness program and teach our students according to their abilities. We also teach the children until 2nd-grade level, so they are ahead of the class when they get to Kindergarten. We create a specific, dedicated binder for each child with a unique curriculum plan that we develop, based on each child's learning level and style. We are enrolled in Fairfax Library's Early Literacy Program. A county officer visits our facility half an hour once a month to read a storybook, sing a song and play games. She also gives each child a book, coloring sheet and some references for other books. Teachers encourage each child to speak English, but we can also expose them to foreign languages upon request (we speak Spanish, Arabic, Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi). We also teach them the American Sign Language. Our Program Our child care and preschool program is open year-round from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. We provide full-time and part-time care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers between the age of 1 week and 5 years old, including children with special needs. We serve morning and evening snacks and provide milk and juice to all kids attending our program (all these are already included in the tuition). We have a backyard playground and we are also close to the community playground where we spend our outdoor play-time every day. We have a yearly picnic, Christmas party, Sports Day, Halloween and other small fun parties. In the summer, we bring out the pool and do water play. We have an open door policy, so parents can come and visit anytime and see what their child is doing (once they enroll in our program, we give them the door code). We also give parents a daily form to give you an update of your child's day (their activity schedule, what they had for lunch, etc.) Location Forest Edge Playhouse is within walking distance from Forest Edge Elementary School and close to Reston Metro Station. We're right off Wiehle Ave (route 828) and Baron Cameron Ave (route 606) and have easy access to these major roads: Leesburg Pike (route 7), Dulles Toll/Access Rd (route 267) and Fairfax County Pkwy (route 286). Please email or call us to schedule a visit, we look forward to meeting your family!
