South County Prek Cooperative
SCPC Education Goals Welcome! At The South County Pre-Kindergarten Co-op, we believe that a child’s work is their play. Young children learn best by doing. Learning isn’t just repeating what someone else says; it requires active thinking and experimenting on the part of the child. Children need to manipulate blocks, try on the dress-ups, interact with each other, squish Play-Doh, finger paint, cut-and-paste, and try a variety of other activities to be a successful learner. Play provides the foundation for the rest of their learning. Please review Our Program to learn how the developmental and educational environment at SCPC has been specifically designed to meet these goals. SCPC Mission The South County Pre-Kindergarten Co-op is an organization made up of parents and teachers providing their children with quality child care and education at a reasonable cost. Our cooperative environment allows parents to participate and offer input to their child’s classroom experience. Review Our Program to learn the variety of concepts that your child will also be exposed to in the midst of all this play. Our Program Enrollment Calendar Teacher’s Corner 3’s Corner 4′ Corner The South County Pre-Kindergarten Co-Op has been uniquely designed and is prepared to accomplish our Mission and Educational Goals. We have small class sizes with a small parent-to-child ratio. Our facility is large and well equipped to provide children an opportunity to explore and create. We also provide an opportunity for parents to participate in their child’s first school experience and to meet other families with young children. Most importantly, we like to have fun! Curriculum: All our classes follow the The Creative Curriculum for Preschool by Dodge, Colker and Heroman. “The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool is remarkably comprehensive, offering a valuable overview of the theories and research behind the Curriculum, and integrating new developments in the field? The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is indeed one of the most useful tools in our profession, offering ’the big picture’ and a range of specific, practical strategies.” – Margie Carter, early childhood college instructor, author, consultant.

Glen Allen Educational Child Care

About Me: Welcome to Glen Allen Educational Child Care, my home daycare and preschool in Bowie, MD. I’m the owner and main caregiver and I have 8... years of child care and early childhood education experience. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedicine and I’m CPR & First-aid certified, as well as MAT trained (if needed, I can administer medication to all children in my care). I’m a mother of 2 myself and at my daycare, I treat each child as if they were my own. Philosophy: My mission is to provide safe, affordable, high-quality child care for the children in the Bowie area. In doing so, I support families in their efforts to reach their goals. My program provides a play and cognitive-based program for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. I provide a home-like environment where children are encouraged to develop at their own pace. I’m committed to the families I serve, providing support and encouragement. Curriculum: I believe that children learn best through play, so I follow the Play-based learning approach to help them develop valuable skills while having fun. Your little one will surely enjoy engaging activities such as Story Time, Music, Rhymes & Singing, Arts & Crafts, etc. In addition to English, I teach the Spanish language to my students (my daycare is not a bilingual Spanish daycare, but this is a wonderful opportunity for your child to learn this foreign language). I also speak Urdu and Punjabi and upon your request, I can expose your child to these languages. Program: My family child care and preschool program is open year-round between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. I offer full-time and part-time care for infants, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old, including children with special needs. All kids attending my daycare are served with snacks (already included in the tuition). Location: Glen Allen Educational Child Care is in the Glen Allen community in Bowie, MD. My home is located off Mt Oak Rd and Crain Hwy (US-301), near Collington Plaza. Your commute to work will be convenient since I have easy access to Collington Rd (route 197), John Hanson Hwy (US-50) and Central Ave (route 214). Please contact me through CareLuLu to book a tour; I look forward to meeting your family!
