Mrs. Carmen Family Daycare
About Us Welcome to Mrs. Carmen Family Daycare, our nurturing family child care and preschool program in Los Angeles, CA! I’m the owner and main caregiver and I have 30 years of experience in early childhood education. I run my daycare with my 3 assistants and they have 13 years of combined experience. All staff members are CPR and First-aid certified, so you can be sure that your little one is safe and secure at all times! I’m also a mom of 2 myself, so I can relate to your needs and concerns when it comes to finding the best daycare for your child. In our home, we treat every child as if they were our own! Curriculum We believe that children learn through play, so we follow the Play-based learning principles. This approach has been proven to be an effective way to develop a child’s valuable skills such as socio-emotional and cognitive skills. We also have educational, yet fun extra-curricular activities in store for them like Arts & Crafts, Singing/Guitar/Music, Story Time and Exercise. In addition to English, we can also teach your child the Spanish Language (this is a wonderful opportunity for your child to become bilingual). Program Our home-based daycare and preschool is open year round between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We provide full-time care for infants as young as 4 weeks, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 4 years old. We serve organic food to all children in our care (breakfast, lunch and snacks are all included in the tuition!) and due to possible allergies, we run a peanut and tree-nut free environment. Location Mrs. Carmen Family Daycare is in the Westchester / Fox Hills area of Los Angeles, CA. We’re near Jefferson Blvd and Sepulveda Blvd, near Cowan Elementary School. You commute to work will be fast and convenient since we have easy access to these major roads: Marina Fyw (route 90), Lincoln Blvd (route 1) and the I-405. We would love to meet you and your little one(s), please send us an email or book a tour!

A Kid's Place

We are a unique early childhood center that offers a variety of programs, including toddler groups, transition groups for 2-year-olds, and preschool... classes. All of our programs share the common goal of allowing children the opportunity to use their innate curiosity and passion for exploration to make sense of the world. We have created a space full of physical, creative, social, imaginative and cognitive challenges and we encourage children to direct their own play and learning. Whether by accomplishing a new physical feat, making a friend, or experiencing the satisfaction of creating a work of art, it is our hope that each child leaves here with a feeling of success and competence. We live in a hurried, demanding world. It is our objective to provide a sanctuary where children can be children and do what they do best: learn through play. Children come into the world as unique human beings with their own individual strengths and weaknesses. It is our mission to get to know and understand the children with whom we work and help them grow into the best possible versions of themselves. Each child develops in his/her unique way: there is no “correct” way to learn and grow. All children acquire knowledge differently and at different rates. We seek to recognize and respect these differences. Children do not need to be forced to learn; they are motivated by their own desire to make sense of the world. As educators, it is our job to provide children with a stimulating, challenging, environment and allow them the opportunity to discover, to experience the world via all of their senses. We believe that a good early education program fosters the development of cognitive abilities, but not by using workbooks or introducing formal academics. Growth happens naturally as children are encouraged to explore and experiment at their own pace and directed by their own interests. All children come into the world with a natural curiosity and passion for figuring things out. It is of the utmost importance that we reinforce this passion, help it to flourish, and that we do not in any way squelch a child’s innate desire to learn. As such, we allow children a great deal of autonomy in determining the direction of their learning; they are offered a wide array of stimulating activities and are given great freedom of choice. They have the opportunity to pursue their own interests and feel successful in this pursuit. We believe in giving children autonomy, but not the power to determine everything that happens in their school lives. As such, we attempt gently to introduce expectations and structure that are commensurate with their developmental readiness. A person’s ability to socialize and communicate with others effectively is a major factor in determining his/her success in school and in life. We seek to help children learn how to get their wants and needs met, how to problem-solve, and how to compromise. We wish to facilitate independence while also creating an environment where children feel safe asking adults for help. We want to help children develop the ability to cope with frustration. The world is unpredictable, often unfair and, no matter how much we love our children, we cannot protect them from everything. One of the greatest gifts we can give them is the knowledge that everyone struggles, everyone fails sometimes and, in order to succeed at anything, we need to be prepared to do things that are difficult. If we take it upon ourselves always to make children happy, they will never learn how to make themselves happy. Temple Akiba Early Childhood Center

Temple Akiba Early Childhood Center, is a place where teachers, parents, their children, Rabbi Zachary R. Shapiro And Cantor Lonee Frailich, join... together to build a strong Jewish inspired community for children to be in. Collaboratively, we have created an environment where all children, from all cultures and religious backgrounds, are welcome to be themselves, excite their curiosity, explore the many languages of the world around them and have the freedom to choose the areas of their interest from a variety of thought-provoking activities. Our community of teachers and parents share a common belief that together we can continue to establish an environment of strong identity and belonging where sharing and exchanging our knowledge and resources with each other becomes a process of our daily routine. TA ECC's educational approach is a weave of most recent child development theories. When combined together, they create a harmonious and sensible developmentally appropriate curriculum. Our main emphasis is to allow children to explore and develop their emotional, physical, cognitive and social qualities at their own pace. Starting from the age of two and transitioning through the age of five, we focus our teaching styles on developing healthy habits. We facilitate and promote appropriate social skills, close friendship, communication and language skills, self-expression, positive self-esteem, physical growth (fine and gross motor skills) and respect of one another. We pride ourselves in the way that we value each child’s abilities and potentials, listen to their amazing ideas and help create a map of knowledge for them to explore at their own pace so they can achieve success. Our main goal is to meet the needs of each individual child, parent, and teacher. Together, we strive in creating a supportive, nurturing and cognitively inviting environment for all to be in. We welcome you to TA ECC!
