About

What is Coqui Camp? Proud of our ethnic background and Puerto Rican heritage, we named our after school and summer camp program after the Taino symbol of the native singing frog of Puerto Rico. The coqui /ko-kee/ is named after the mating call made by the male species. Reminiscing of our country while serving the communities of Howard County we decided to use the familiar name and one of the symbols of our culture. We serve the education system on the private sector and cater the needs of the working families by offering an innovative after school program that would allow children to expand their knowledge of a second language and also express their love for the arts by creating music. After the school session ended in June, we embarked in the expansion of the program and during the summer of 2015 we opened the summer session for the first time. Coqui Camp now offers eight weeks of exploration in different areas of interest for the children during the summer months. We incorporate field trips that will enhance the experiences learned during the themed weeks and keep our campers engaged with several works related to the lessons given. Our children enjoy coming every day and have fun with their fellow campers and camp counselors. Together we create an atmosphere of respect and camaraderie.
