Happy Place Family Child Care is a year-round home-based daycare in Silver Spring, MD. Our family child care program is run by Sara O'Brien who has 10 years of child care experience and has a Child Development Associate degree. We are open from 7:00am until 5:45pm and care for children as young as 6 weeks through 6 years old, including children with special needs. We offer preschool, as well as, both full time and part time child care, including drop in care. We also have before and after school care for children up to 6 years old. We provide meals and offer a peanut and tree-nut free environment. Happy Place Family Child Care is a language immersion program that offers English and Spanish. We use a play based curriculum. My three children were all lovingly cared for at Happy Place Family Daycare. The provider put me at ease leaving my infants with her, often holding and nurturing the babies, setting up nap schedules, and allowing me to provide pumped breast milk for feedings. As the children got older, their developmental, physical and creative needs were met with fun and educational activities each day. There is also a private outdoor space where the kids spend a good amount of time. I can not recommend this daycare enough. They are reliable, clean, easy to communicate with, have good hours, and truly care about the children and their parents!

I feel extremely lucky to have found Sara. She has cared for both of my children. At Sara's in-home daycare, there is a strong feeling of family and lots and lots of love! It is easy to see that Sara loves the children and her family loves the kids as well! My girls love all of them right back!! Sara also teaches the kids routines, how to be helpful and provides lots of time for fun. Additionally, Sara is great about giving advice about parenting whenever I need help. Her support makes transitions (giving up the pacifier, potty training, etc.) so much easier.

My 2 year old has been going to Sara since she was 4 months old. Sara is so special to us and our daughter. She knows our daughter as well as my husband and I do and our little one adores her. She takes the time to talk about your child and answers all your questions. The childcare space is clean and organized, both inside and outside with separate sections for each part of the day. Sara has created such a great routine that it’s helped us to stay consistent even at home. My two year old has learned the animals, colors, shapes, letters and counting. She comes home singing songs she’s learned and with arts and crafts she made. I have always felt assured that my daughter is safe and that Sara has her best interest at heart. I can’t say enough about how appreciative we are for her and her assistant every single day.

I've been very lucky, finding Sara. I should preface this by a few things. I was raised in at-home daycares. They usually put me in front of a TV and I learned nothing. My son has been with Sara for a year. He knows Spanish words, usually plays well with others, Sara doesn't even have a TV for her own kids to watch and I really feel like Sara helps me parent. When I have an issue, I can ask her how she deals with it there and try to take her advice. Even in emergency situations (like her own kids or mom needing her), Sara has workers and helpers to help so her doors never close. In a daycare, you're really asking someone to help raise your kid with you and I'm really glad Sara is helping with my son's raising. I would definitely recommend.
