Chesapeake Montessori School provides an authentic, AMI-accredited Montessori education to children from 18 months through age 14. As the longest-running Montessori school in the Annapolis area, we are committed to nurturing each child's natural curiosity, independence, and love of learning. Our vibrant community fosters academic excellence, personal growth, and a lifelong passion for discovery through hands-on, student-centered learning.
The Young Children’s Communities at Chesapeake Montessori School serves children from 18 months to 3 years old and provides the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. CMS offers two Young Children’s Community classrooms, where children develop language, coordination, concentration, and independence through active engagement with a carefully prepared Montessori environment. Classrooms are designed to support exploration and self-discovery, with child-sized furnishings, hands-on materials, ample outdoor space, and individualized guidance from experienced teachers. Each classroom is led by one AMI-trained teacher and two assistants.
Through activities such as food preparation, caring for the classroom environment, and care of self, children gain confidence and independence while developing control of movement and concentration. Rich language experiences, sensorial exploration, stories, and meaningful interactions help toddlers expand their vocabulary and communication skills as they make sense of the world around them. Every aspect of the environment is thoughtfully designed to support the rapid growth and development that occurs during these formative years.
