Parklawn Spanish Bilingual Kids Daycare
About Me: Hi parents, welcome to Parklawn Spanish Bilingual Kids Daycare, a small family child care program in Alexandria, VA! I am the owner and main caregiver, and I have 18 years of experience working with young children. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and I'm also CPR and First-aid certified, we well as MAT trained (I can administer medication to the children in my care if necessary). Before opening my own daycare many years ago, I worked for 10 years at another licensed home daycare, at a child care center, and kindergarten. As you can see, I have plenty of experience so you can rest assured that your little one will receive quality care and early education. My in-home daycare is small, to ensure that your child receives plenty of individual attention (I will take a maximum of 4 children). Curriculum: I use a Montessori-inspired teaching philosophy that focuses on early stimulation and education, as well as nutrition. My early learning curriculum also emphasizes socio-emotional development, language learning, as well as math and science. At my daycare, your child will have the opportunity to become bilingual at a young age since I offer a Bilingual Spanish child care program. Kids will also be introduced to physical activity and sports as part of their development, and they will enjoy plenty of outdoor playtime (weather permitting) since I have a large backyard. Program: My family child care program is open year-round from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. I provide full-time care for infants as you as 4 weeks, as well as toddlers through preschoolers up to 5 years old. I serve lunch and snacks to all children in my care (included in the tuition). I am also open in the summer and have a fun summer camp program! Location: Parklawn Spanish Bilingual Kids Daycare is in the Parklawn neighborhood of Lincolnia, Alexandria (near Parklawn Elementary School). My home is located near all major access roads, and will make your commute to work very convenient: I'm near Lincolnia Rd (route 613) and Columbia Pike (route 244), a few minutes away from the I-395 and Little River Turnpike (route 236). Thanks for stopping by and reading my profile, please send an email or call to schedule a tour. I am looking forward to meeting your family!
Braddock Early Learning Bilingual Daycare
About Me Hi parents, welcome to Braddock Early Learning Bilingual Daycare! Our child care and preschool program is family owned and operated, and we’re located near Braddock Rd and Little River Turnpike, in Alexandria, VA. I hold a Child Development Associates’ degree and have 8 years of experience in child care. I am also CPR and first-aid certified. Our child care hours are between 7:30am and 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. We provide full-time and part-time daycare for infants as young as 6 months, and for toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old (we have an early learning curriculum for preschoolers). For school-aged children (up to 12 years old), I also offer before and after school care (if necessary, I can pick up your child from Weyanoke Elementary School). Teaching Philosophy Our home daycare is Montessori-inspired and we can offer a bilingual Spanish program. I believe that young children need to be surrounded by love and attention. As a child care provider, I always make sure that children in my care feel safe, secure, and loved. I take an active approach to learning by offering age-appropriate activities that will children develop cognitively and physically, but also socially and emotionally. I also promote empathy and generosity among my little students, and help them understand and express their feelings. Curriculum Our curriculum consists of free play, dramatic play, circle time, art, science, cooking, music, math, and story time. Lessons and themes are prepared weekly and are specific to your child’s age and developmental needs. We have a strong focus on arts and science, which encourage young minds to be creative, experiment, and use their imagination. For infants, we focus on forming a trusting and loving relationship with your child. We’ll thus cuddle, play, and spend quality time with your little one. In their first year, babies grow physically, but most importantly, develop socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Daily activities include music time, story time, and art. When you pick up your baby, you’ll get a daily report for feeding times, naps, and diaper changes. For toddlers, we foster curiosity through sensory activities and arts and crafts, such as painting. Toddlers start to develop independence, so we help them learn how to feed themselves and dress themselves. We also work on hand-eye coordination by playing with blocks and puzzles. For preschoolers, free play is the most important activity as they discover, imagine, and interact with one another to build social and emotional skills. We also foster their love for literature by reading and creating our own stories. For preschoolers, we also work on developing their love and respect for our environment, so we spend a lot of time outdoors. Preschoolers garden and grow flowers and vegetables. The curriculum for preschoolers also include early math, science, reading and writing. Food and Allergies At Braddock Early Learning Bilingual Daycare, we provide breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and evening snack. Our daycare is peanut-free and treenut-free and can accommodate children with allergies (I have experience with various allergies, and if your little one follows a vegan or a vegetarian diet, we will do our best to substitute meals.). Most of the food we provide is organic, healthy, and nutritional. I believe it’s important to start healthy eating habits at a very young age (we provide (fresh veggies, fruits and whole grains daily.) Facilities and Location Our daycare room is spacious, bright, and colorful. The walls are covered with educational posters like the alphabet, colors, shapes, and numbers as well as children's artwork. The room is designed into early learning centers (drama, toddler material, blocks, and art). Braddock Early Learning Bilingual Daycare is located near Braddock Rd and Little River Turnpike, with very easy access to the I-395 for your daily commute. We’re within walking distance of Weyanoke Elementary School, Holmes Middle School, and Thomas Jefferson High School. Please send a message to learn more or to schedule a visit, I look forward to meeting you!

Montessori School of Cedar Lane

The Montessori School of Cedar Lane, Holly Brook Montessori School, and Hunter Mill Montessori School are sister Montessori preschools, which have... been providing Northern Virginia’s preschool children with quality education for the past 40 years. All three preschools offer a complete educational and social environment and utilize the discoveries and methods of Dr. Maria Montessori to help the child develop more fully the potential within him. Each school provides a program specially suited to the needs of the child and offers individual attention to his whole development. At each preschool we have fully equipped Montessori Primary classrooms, which stimulate each child’s natural intellectual development. Each class grouping is multi-age allowing for constant interaction and problem solving between children. In the specially prepared environment, each child is challenged according to his interest and abilities. Children continue in the same classroom for all three years they are enrolled at our schools becoming a tight-knit group where the essential skills of community life can be learned and practiced. Each class grouping has a trained Montessori teacher and an assistant to introduce new lessons (individual, small group and whole class), encourage appropriate social interaction and to intervene when necessary. Within the Montessori Classroom, the child is able to develop independence and responsibility, confidence and the ability to direct his own learning, creativity, and the critical thinking skills necessary to succeed academically. All children enrolled at our schools participate in the Montessori Educational program. The school year runs from September to the first week in June.
