My name is Samina Pirzada, and I’m the owner and main caregiver at Shine Daycare, a home-based daycare and preschool in Alexandria, VA. I’ve been running my licensed daycare for nearly 20 years, and I work alongside my daughter, Fariha Pirzada, who has 15 years of early education experience and holds a bachelor's degree in information technology.
At Shine Daycare, we follow a play-based learning philosophy, encouraging children to explore and learn through structured play. We care for infants starting at 2 months old, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years of age. We offer full-time, part-time, and drop-in care, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
We participate in the USDA Food Program and provide healthy, nut-free meals and snacks. While we primarily speak English, we also speak Urdu and can introduce children to the language if parents are interested, although this is not a bilingual program.
