Falls Church-McLean Childrens Center provides a comprehensive, high-quality, early-childhood program designed to give all young children, regardless of their familys economic resources, a strong foundation on which to build the rest of their lives. Licensing and Accreditation We received accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children on July 9, 2014 with above perfect scores in 6 of 10 program areas. The Center is licensed as a child care facility with the state of Virginia. During our most recent licensing renewal inspection in August 2013, the Center was found free of any violations, a rare finding among centers. We were the first school in D.C./Virginia/Maryland area to be accredited! We participate in the voluntary Virginia Star Quality Initiative, which commits us to continued improvement of our already-strong program. In our most recent evaluation in 2011, the Center was awarded a 4-Star rating (out of 5 possible Stars). Were Different Not a daycare Not a preschool Falls Church-McLean Childrens Center works from a basic philosophy that emphasizes the well-being of the whole child. Focusing on every aspect of development-social, emotional, physical and cognitive, we use Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum Bilingual Edition as our environmental foundation for children 2- to 5-years to experience activities and interactions that will shape them into conscientious and caring individuals, and prepare them fully to excel throughout their life. Early Intervention One of the Childrens Centers most unique qualities is our commitment to nurturing each childs development. Our low student-teacher ratios enable our well-trained and experienced teachers to work closely with each child to encourage and monitor emerging skills, and to identify developmental delays through periodic assessments. Any child with delays receives speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, or behavioral counseling on-site, at no extra cost to parents, to address the root cause of delays and help each child make the most of these precious years to build essential skills. Falls Church-McLean Childrens Center ensures that every child receives the nutrition necessary for their growing bodies. The proper nutrition assists children in their development not only physically, but socially, emotionally and cognitively. Our nutrition program includes: USDA approved Breakfast and Snacks USDA well balanced lunched provided by The Good Food Company Parent Education Programming to enhance nutrition in families. Participation in the national Lets Move campaign to encourage nutrition and physical activity.
