St. Paul's Episcopal Preschool And Kindergarten
We believe that God has given us both a challenge and a blessing literally to be located at the Crossroads of tremendous need in our community, and the intersection of such diversity. We believe that our church family exists to be an expression of the Kingdom of God to our neighbors. Our new Mission Statement describing our family, and our New Vision pointing towards the direction of our future sum it all up very well. Mission Statement: We are a reflection of God’s Kingdom, offering a place of faith and fellowship where people of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and ethnicity come together as the family of God, using our gifts to bear the hope of Christ to the needs of the world. Vision Statement: We will embrace all people by nurturing and engaging our gifts for the sake of sharing Christ’s saving and redeeming love, within our parish family and beyond. We will offer a community of belonging, acceptance, care and transformation to our neighbors and all who enter, regardless of where they come from or where they are on their journey. Sunday School St. Paul's rejoices in a creative, hands-on Sunday School program for children in preschool to middle school. Children study themes of the Bible that span Old and New Testament. The program entails Opening Prayer, Bible Verse reciting, arts and crafts, singing, skit-playing, and take home exercises in which the whole family can participate. All materials are available in Spanish and English
Falls Church Episcopal Church
Youth and children experience a vibrant worship, formation and fellowship life at The Falls Church Episcopal Nursery The Nursery at The Falls Church is for infants and children up to age 3. It is staffed by Karin and Josephine, two long-time team members at our church. The Nursery is open every Sunday from 8:45 am to 12:15 pm. The Nursery is located downstairs in Room 126. From the Upper Narthex, go down the stairs or the elevator and the Nursery will be just a few steps down the hall. Cherub & Children's Chapel During worship, "cherubs" (age 4 years or younger) and children (age 5 years or more) are invited to chapel after the first reading of Scripture during all services. Lasting 30 minutes, chapel follows the lectionary and parallels the main service in an age appropriate manner. Cherubs and children return to their parents in time for the passing of the peace and communion. On the first two Sundays of the month, cherubs and children have separate, age-appropriate chapels. On the remaining Sundays of the month, the cherubs “build” an altar and sanctuary space with small-scale pieces. When ready, they ring the “church bell” and invite the children into their space for a short liturgy! Many pre-teens and teens also join in, acting as “big brothers and sisters.” The 6th-12th graders may also serve as acolyte crucifer-servers for the main worship service. Every month or so, the cherub and children sing a song for the Offertory! The Kindergarten Program is offered to all children who turn five before September 30. The curriculum in this class is age appropriate and prepares children for first grade in public and private schools. This program satisfies, at a minimum, all the Standards of Learning for Kindergarten in the State of Virginia. The Kindergarten curriculum is child-centered and project oriented. It allows for each child to develop uniquely into a “Can-Do” learner in a secure and nurturing atmosphere. Spanish class is offered twice a week. This class meets from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The preschool classes are available for children ages two years through four years. All four year old classes prepare children for a positive Kindergarten experience. Classes begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m., with the exception of the 5 Day 4 Year-old Extended Day class which meets from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Children in this class participate in a Spanish class twice a week. Children must turn the appropriate age for the desired class no later than September 30. Students in the three-year-old classes and older must be toilet trained. Children in this program routinely turn five years old after September 30 and before December 31 of the same calendar year. Students whose birthdays fall outside the stated parameters may apply to this program at the discretion of the director. Participation in all classroom projects and activities are guided by individual skills and abilities and the curriculum is appropriately challenging. Children will participate in an extended-day that will include a Spanish class twice a week. Classes meet from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Our PMO program offers a nurturing environment for toddlers encountering their first peer group experiences. This program is available for children ages eighteen months through twenty-three months of age and meets from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday of each week.
St. John's Episcopal Preschool
About Us: Our preschool curriculum is inspired by the philosophy of teaching young children that originates in Reggio Emilia, Italy. We believe children possess a natural capacity for joy, a sense of wonder about the world and the motivation to make sense of their world. Every young child is intelligent and capable of constructing knowledge through interactions with parents, peers, and educators. At St. John's, children's investigations take on multiple dimensions as they explore the world using their unique personalities and abilities. We also believe all children have the right to caring relationships and rich learning environments provided by adults who listen to their ideas, value their thinking, and thereby broaden their understanding of their world. Our Preschool was founded by parishioners as a part of the church's bicentennial celebration. As a ministry of St. John's Church, we seek to form a bridge to the wider community, reflect the diversity around us, and support the full potential of childhood. The Preschool welcomed its first class of four children in March 1997. In the ensuing years, we have grown to an enrollment of 45 children, ranging in age from 2-1/2 to 5 years. We offer three morning classes with mixed-age extended day options in the morning Early Birds program and the afternoon Kids' Workshop. St. John's Episcopal Preschool is a child care center in Washington, DC. We are open from 8:00am to 3:30pm. To learn more about us, please send us an email.
