University Parent's Nursery School - Upns

The University Parents Nursery School (UPNS) is a cooperative preschool that cares for the children (aged 2-5) of the general public and UCLA... students, staff and faculty. As a cooperative school, UPNS preschool los angeles is run by its members, who contribute to the smooth operation of the school. Our Mission Help children develop ?the whole child?. This includes the 5 selves of being which are: social, emotional, physical, creative and cognitive. UPNS has four classrooms: the Kitten room, for 2-year-olds; the Monkey room, for 3-year-olds; the Koala room, for 3-and 4-year-olds for the afternoon session only; and the Dolphin room, for 4-year-olds. There are approximately 15-20 children in each classroom.

My Friend's Montessori Preschool Cooperative

Our mission is to provide a model Montessori home and garden environment in which children receive an enriched preschool education in phonetic... pre-reading skills, music, art, creative fun, nature, and self-care skills. In addition, parents will learn ideas they can implement at home. The field trips expose the children to new experiences and challenges. Our students become motivated self-learners and are provided with a warm nurturing atmosphere in which to develop into the wonderful person they are. The program is based on the Montessori philosophy of individualized tasks that build skills, confidence and self-esteem. We believe this is the best way to achieve our goal of motivated learners. Children are taught to be independent, responsible and respectful of themselves, others and their environment. All materials are hands-on manipulative with a built-in control that allows the child to accomplish the task easily without the teacher correcting them saying this is right and this is wrong. This independent learning style builds his/her feelings of accomplishment. This motivates the child to learn and master more difficult skills and increases his/her ability to concentrate for longer and longer periods of time. Children are drawn to the materials that they developmentally need to work on at that moment in time. In this way they select what is most important to their development for that day. All materials in the classroom are presented on shelves at their height. The children are provided with rugs and child-sized tables to work on. The teacher’s role in the classroom is to provide instruction on how to use the materials, keep the child focused on activities that he or she is successful with and encourage and present more challenging lessons when the child is ready for it. She keeps a careful eye on frustration levels to make sure a child is engaged and moving comfortably at his or her own pace. She encourages appropriate friendship interactions and encourages the children to help each other to build a strong sense of community. Often the children start interacting as a familial group toward the end of the year. Our main goal is to make sure every child feels special and is comfortable and happy. This is a terrific program for 3-5 year olds designed for stay-at-home moms and part-time working moms. This part-time 3-day-a-week program is Montessori-based and includes weekly field trips to nature parks and educational venues. Moms and younger siblings come to field trips for free. My Friend's Mother's Preschool Montessori and Cooperative is a licensed family child care provider in Culver City, CA with the license issued by the L. A. Temple Akiba Early Childhood Center

Temple Akiba Early Childhood Center, is a place where teachers, parents, their children, Rabbi Zachary R. Shapiro And Cantor Lonee Frailich, join... together to build a strong Jewish inspired community for children to be in. Collaboratively, we have created an environment where all children, from all cultures and religious backgrounds, are welcome to be themselves, excite their curiosity, explore the many languages of the world around them and have the freedom to choose the areas of their interest from a variety of thought-provoking activities. Our community of teachers and parents share a common belief that together we can continue to establish an environment of strong identity and belonging where sharing and exchanging our knowledge and resources with each other becomes a process of our daily routine. TA ECC's educational approach is a weave of most recent child development theories. When combined together, they create a harmonious and sensible developmentally appropriate curriculum. Our main emphasis is to allow children to explore and develop their emotional, physical, cognitive and social qualities at their own pace. Starting from the age of two and transitioning through the age of five, we focus our teaching styles on developing healthy habits. We facilitate and promote appropriate social skills, close friendship, communication and language skills, self-expression, positive self-esteem, physical growth (fine and gross motor skills) and respect of one another. We pride ourselves in the way that we value each child’s abilities and potentials, listen to their amazing ideas and help create a map of knowledge for them to explore at their own pace so they can achieve success. Our main goal is to meet the needs of each individual child, parent, and teacher. Together, we strive in creating a supportive, nurturing and cognitively inviting environment for all to be in. We welcome you to TA ECC!
