Mrs. Carmen Family Daycare
About Us Welcome to Mrs. Carmen Family Daycare, our nurturing family child care and preschool program in Los Angeles, CA! I’m the owner and main caregiver and I have 30 years of experience in early childhood education. I run my daycare with my 3 assistants and they have 13 years of combined experience. All staff members are CPR and First-aid certified, so you can be sure that your little one is safe and secure at all times! I’m also a mom of 2 myself, so I can relate to your needs and concerns when it comes to finding the best daycare for your child. In our home, we treat every child as if they were our own! Curriculum We believe that children learn through play, so we follow the Play-based learning principles. This approach has been proven to be an effective way to develop a child’s valuable skills such as socio-emotional and cognitive skills. We also have educational, yet fun extra-curricular activities in store for them like Arts & Crafts, Singing/Guitar/Music, Story Time and Exercise. In addition to English, we can also teach your child the Spanish Language (this is a wonderful opportunity for your child to become bilingual). Program Our home-based daycare and preschool is open year round between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We provide full-time care for infants as young as 4 weeks, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 4 years old. We serve organic food to all children in our care (breakfast, lunch and snacks are all included in the tuition!) and due to possible allergies, we run a peanut and tree-nut free environment. Location Mrs. Carmen Family Daycare is in the Westchester / Fox Hills area of Los Angeles, CA. We’re near Jefferson Blvd and Sepulveda Blvd, near Cowan Elementary School. You commute to work will be fast and convenient since we have easy access to these major roads: Marina Fyw (route 90), Lincoln Blvd (route 1) and the I-405. We would love to meet you and your little one(s), please send us an email or book a tour!
Hill & Dale Family Learning Center
Hill & Dale Family Learning Center is an outgrowth of a privately owned preschool operated in Pacific Palisades for over thirty years. When the owners, Eleanor and Lee Kendall, no longer wished to continue operating their school, a group of Hill & Dale parents decided to reorganize it as a non-profit corporation run by a parent-community Board. Inspired by the strong educational philosophy of the Kendalls, we established the school with the following objectives: To run a top quality educational child care program based on a strong guiding philosophy; To attract and develop a staff extensively trained in early childhood education and development; To compensate that staff with competitive wages and benefits; and To establish and nurture a strong parent education component which encourages parents to take an active role in understanding their child's development and participating in their education. We opened our doors in September 1979 at 1512 Pearl Street in Santa Monica with 10 children. Less than a year later, we were at full enrollment with 25 children and have had a continual waiting list since that time. Judith Brunk became Executive Director, a position she still holds today. Hill & Dale moved its operations in August of 1984 to the business development at Colorado Place (Yahoo Center). This move into larger facilities offered new horizons for promoting quality educational child care and facilitating parenting education and skills. Hill & Dale at Yahoo Center has also been a highly successful experiment in developer-assisted creation of new child care facilities in the Santa Monica community. As the program grew and the demand for infant care became greater, we opened our second Center in August of 1987 in a converted firehouse owned by the City of Santa Monica at the west end of Clover Park on Ocean Park Blvd. Hill & Dale holds a lease with the city for use of the building and Watt Industries, a local developer, committed funding and construction assistance necessary for building renovation and set u

John Adams Child Development Center

We believe that each child is an individual with unique needs, interests, and abilities. Growth and learning occur is a sequential manner and can be... fostered by providing children with experiences that encourage interaction with peers, materials, and adults. We will work in partnership with each child's parent to facilitate the individual growth and development of their child. This will promote a better understanding of the impact that the culture, linguistic, and ethnic practices of the child's family has upon the child. A variety of developmentally appropriate activities will be offered under the guidance of qualified adults, that foster cognitive, social, creative, and physical development. Both group and individual experiences are provided in order for children to develop a sense of belonging and to still be able to purse their own specific interests. Our Center's environment encourages exploration, discovery, decision-making, play, and social interaction to foster self-esteem, competence, and autonomy in children. PROGRAM: The Santa Monica Preschool Collaborative serves children who are 3 years through 5 years of age. The ratio of child to adult never exceeds eight to one. The staff has designed a flexible program that responds to the needs of each individual child. The curriculum is developmentally appropriate with an emphasis on the development of the child's positive self-image. Our program is inclusive. We serve children of all developmental levels and abilities. Children who have special needs are enrolled in our regular classes. We believe that all children benefit when they play and learn together under the guidance and supervision of well-trained teachers. ELIGIBILITY: The Santa Monica Preschool Collaborative welcomes all children regardless of race, creed, color, religion, or national origin. Children ages 3 years through 5 years of age may attend the program according to space availability. Families, who meet the State guidelines for subsidized care, and those who qualify for subsidy through the CalWORKs childcare program, will have first priority for enrollment. Fees are based on a sliding scale that is used by the State of California Department of Social Services If there are spaces available after all subsidized families have been enrolled, then “full-fee” families can be enrolled. The Santa Monica Preschool Collaborative is a group foundation made possible by: Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Santa Monica College District

Temple Akiba Early Childhood Center

Temple Akiba Early Childhood Center, is a place where teachers, parents, their children, Rabbi Zachary R. Shapiro And Cantor Lonee Frailich, join... together to build a strong Jewish inspired community for children to be in. Collaboratively, we have created an environment where all children, from all cultures and religious backgrounds, are welcome to be themselves, excite their curiosity, explore the many languages of the world around them and have the freedom to choose the areas of their interest from a variety of thought-provoking activities. Our community of teachers and parents share a common belief that together we can continue to establish an environment of strong identity and belonging where sharing and exchanging our knowledge and resources with each other becomes a process of our daily routine. TA ECC's educational approach is a weave of most recent child development theories. When combined together, they create a harmonious and sensible developmentally appropriate curriculum. Our main emphasis is to allow children to explore and develop their emotional, physical, cognitive and social qualities at their own pace. Starting from the age of two and transitioning through the age of five, we focus our teaching styles on developing healthy habits. We facilitate and promote appropriate social skills, close friendship, communication and language skills, self-expression, positive self-esteem, physical growth (fine and gross motor skills) and respect of one another. We pride ourselves in the way that we value each child’s abilities and potentials, listen to their amazing ideas and help create a map of knowledge for them to explore at their own pace so they can achieve success. Our main goal is to meet the needs of each individual child, parent, and teacher. Together, we strive in creating a supportive, nurturing and cognitively inviting environment for all to be in. We welcome you to TA ECC!
