Creative Beginnings Preschool
Creative Beginnings Preschool is a child development preschool which provides a loving, caring, supportive environment for young children, meeting them at their present levels of growth and maturity, and encouraging them in their physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social development. We believe that it is important that children develop a strong sense of self-worth and self-confidence so that they can relate to their peer group and assume a sense of responsibility. By building a positive experience, it is our belief that children will grow to adulthood confident in their ability to influence, constructively and creatively, the social and physical environment around them. Play is the primary way in which children learn. We contribute to this learning in the following ways. Language Experiences will develop the children’s use of the English language, increase their vocabulary, and ultimately give them a delight in the use of words. Science Experiences will develop the children’s sense of spatial and numerical relationships, involve them in the wonder of natural growth and increase their interest in the physical world around them. It will give them an elementary sense of cause and effect and develop their own ability to influence and affect the world around them. Creative Experiences in music, art, poetry, drama, and dance will stimulate their artistic skills by working with their natural abilities to see, hear, taste, touch, and smell. As these skills develop, the children will expand their creativity and grow in appreciation of the arts. Physical Experiences both inside and out, are planned to develop small and large motor coordination skills. Daily involvement in a variety of physical activities will release the children’s natural tensions, develop their muscles, and give them a sense of accomplishment in the mastering of body skills. Spiritual Experiences will provide opportunities for children to feel a sense of wonder as they discover the world God made. Social Experiences in sharing toys, and people will help the children to find constructive ways for dealing with their anger, joy, frustration, happiness, disappointment and wonder. Such experiences will also support their relationships among other people in different environments.
Bright Beginnings School Age Child Care
Bright Beginnings is a MD State licensed Before & After School program that combines the best qualities of a small center with in home family care. As an in home provider, I am able to provide some flexibility to families. Because I only provide care to school age children, I am able to focus on their unique needs. I provide homework help and we do additional reading, STEM, art, and fitness. Breakfast and an afternoon snack are included. I have several substitutes available to provide continued care in my absence. I am open most days including early dismissals and teacher inservice days. We love to take advantage of full days to go on field trips - some of our field trips include the MD Science Center and the National Aquarium. Although our days are structured, our schedule provides flexibility to allow child-led activities and social interaction. There are plenty of opportunities for movement and play - even during homework time - we replaced our chairs with balance balls, provide clipboards so kids can stand, and we have several fidget toys. We spend a lot of time outdoors - even in light rain and snow. Our exciting outdoor play space includes a teeter totter, low zip line, climbing dome, and a large Rainbow play set with a climbing deck, tire swing, swings, slide, and a rope swing. Kids can also choose to curl up in the cozy reading center or visit our art area for creative expression. Your child's safety and well being is my utmost concern; we practice emergency drills at least once per month and review procedures weekly. As a licensed provider, I follow state child care and fire code regulations. I am CPR and first aid certified and maintain continuing education in the childcare field. I look forward to hearing from you!

The Goddard School

Our infant care play area is filled with toys and books that help... your baby develop at his or her own pace. Teachers sing songs and read stories to encourage language acquisition. They also pass balls and play games to develop motor skills. In many Goddard Schools, American Sign Language is introduced to encourage children to express their thoughts or needs. Goddard Teachers also work with the parents to ensure a balance of home and school. Together they develop the child’s daily schedule including nap times, play times and bottle times. As part of the Infant Program, the First Steps classroom helps the child transition from Infant to Toddler as the budding explorers learn new vocabulary and self-help skills. Through The Goddard School® F.L.EX.® Learning Program, teachers plan daily activities in a bright and cheery environment to encourage eager investigation of the world. Within the consistent structure toddlers crave, they enjoy a daily balance of quiet activities, spirited music and movement and plenty of outdoor climbing, running and jumping. Learning Centers are always open for imaginary play with blocks and puzzles, creative art and lots of books. Circle time incorporates stories and songs that encourage language skills and social growth. Children are guided through activities that strengthen gross motor skills, such as using balance beams and standing on tip-toes; and fine motor skills through crayon and marker use. The Goddard School® F.L.EX.® Learning Program sets the stage for self confidence by encouraging progress at a child’s own pace, according to individual needs and abilities. Learning centers for math, science, dramatic play, music, creative art and computers provide opportunities to balance both shared and independent learning experiences. Fitness, art history and manners are incorporated into the preschooler's daily schedule, as well. Visits by local museums and libraries, community helpers, and theatrical productions supplement classroom learning within the safety of our schools. Our programs promote cooperative play and collaborative problem-solving skills through classroom-appropriate lesson plans. Most Schools offer music appreciation, foreign language, world cultures and access to computers, as well. The Goddard School Pre-K/Junior K Programs have earned AdvancED and Middle States accreditation after demonstrating the highest standards in early childhood education. This means The Goddard School® F.L.EX.® Learning Program will help each child gain exceptional skills for kindergarten success. Each classroom has a balance of quiet reading time with social and imaginary play. The Goddard School® F.L.EX.® Learning Program's fun activities, guided by highly trained teachers, foster the cognitive and social development of every child. Most Schools offer further educational diversity with foreign language, yoga, world cultures, manners and computer skills in order to expand their learning opportunities. Each Goddard School works with local districts to ensure every child's smooth transition between Kindergarten and First Grade. Goddard School's trained teachers provide your child with individualized homework assistance, as well as supervised computer time to promote technical literacy. The Goddard School® F.L.EX.® Learning Program ensures that socialization, problem-solving and a balance of academics and play, are still integral to the activities for all school-age children through music, creative art and games.
