City Center Little Academy
About Us Dear parents, welcome to City Center Little Academy, our child care center and preschool in Sterling, VA. We are not a large chain or corporation, we are a privately owned and independently operated daycare center which has served families in the Potomac Falls / Sterling area for over 20 years! We pride ourselves in providing a safe, fun filled, and nurturing place where children can learn and grow in a happy and caring environment. What makes us different from other daycare centers and preschools in the area? We believe it’s our highly-trained and experienced staff. Our teachers have been with us for an average of 10 years, which provides our children with a sense of security and safety. These are essential conditions for their overall emotional, physical, and academic growth. All our lead teachers have a Child Development Associates degree and provide the best developmentally appropriate curriculum based on each child’s individual needs and progress. Philosophy At City Center Little Academy, we not only offer nurturing child care, but also high-quality early education. Our teaching philosophy and curriculum are based on STEAM, which is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. While STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) have become increasingly popular in early childhood education, STEAM allows young minds to diversify their skillset. STEAM fosters student inquiries, dialogue, and critical thinking. The approach helps develop problem-solving skills and foster collaboration. We also invite children to be curious and we promote overall well-being, including rest, healthy nutrition and physical activity. We also understand the importance of keeping parents informed about children’s developmental growth and progress, so we provide daily reports for every child in our care. Curriculum Our curriculum is specifically designed to fit your child’s age and developmental stage. Infants need a safe and nurturing child care environment, with plenty of individual time and attention. We strive to build trust and a loving relationship with your baby. Toddlers start to learn language, science, and social skills. They also start to develop both physically and emotionally. At that young age, learning is done through play in a safe, fun environment. When your child becomes a preschooler, our daily activities become more diverse, and our program becomes more structured. Early learning is done through a combination of independent and group learning. In addition to our child care center and preschool program, we also offer a fun and exciting Summer Camp. Every year, children can enjoy our fun activities that include swimming, movies and various field trips. Location City Center Little Academy is located off City Center Blvd in Sterling, near the Dulles Town Center (in the Countryside neighborhood of Potomac Falls / Sterling, VA). Our center is easily accessible by care since we’re near route 28 (Sully Rd) and route 7 (Harry Byrd Hwy). Thank you so much for reading about us! Please send an email to schedule a time to visit. At our center, you can be confident that your child will get loving and nurturing care, as well as the excellent educational experience they need to be prepared for kindergarten. We look forward to meeting you and your little one!

Montessori Children's House of Loudoun

Montessori education is based on the pioneering work of Dr. Maria... Montessori, whose lifelong study of the way children develop led her to create a method designed to take maximum advantage of children's natural desire to learn. The Montessori Method respects the uniqueness of each child and tailors the educational experience to the needs and progress of each child's developmental level. For the young child, skill-building activities are presented individually, on the child's own developmental schedule, when the teacher observes that the child is ready for that particular lesson. In traditional schools, children of roughly the same age are put together in the same class. Montessori classrooms include an age range of approximately three years. These mixed age groupings are an important part of the Montessori experience. They create a community that fosters a family-like atmosphere, where the older children help their younger classmates. Cooperation and respect are nurtured. Fostering self-motivation and using mixed-age classrooms allows Montessori environments to offer a greater amount of freedom than other classrooms. As the children are drawn to and engage in concentrated work, they begin to develop self-discipline. They learn to concentrate on their own work and respect the work of others. Respect is at the core of the Montessori-philosophy-respect for each person and for the environment. The goal of Montessori education is the development of autonomous and competent, caring , empathetic, and adaptive citizens. The Montessori child learns not what to think but how to think. The carefully prepared environment and trained Montessori teachers offer the children materials and guidance that will help them discover the world in which they live. They develop into engaged, self-motivated students and acquire the skills needed to become healthy, active citizens in their community.
