Green Hill Child Development Center
Welcome to Green Hill Child Development Center, our licensed child care center and preschool in Silver Spring, MD! About The Staff Our Director has 12 years of experience and holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Early Childhood Education. Our staff members are all experienced and qualified; they are also CPR and First-aid certified, as well as MAT trained (if needed, we can administer medication to all children in our care). Our lead teachers have at least an Associate's Degree. We’ve been in business for 45 years so you can be sure that your little one will receive the quality care and early education they deserve! Teaching Philosophy We believe that every child is unique and they can grow and succeed through encouragement and praise. Our teachers and caregivers help our little students build self-confidence by giving them proper guidance, positive feedback and rewards. We nurture them and always bring out the best in them so they can see the world around them with wonder and awe. Our staff is very diverse, and at our daycare center, we pride ourselves on teaching children cultural diversity. Curriculum We follow the Discovery method combined with the Reggio Emilia teaching philosophy, where students are guided as they learn through Play, Cause & Effect, Songs, Movements, Rhythm and Syncopation, Read Aloud Story Time, and Health & Safety. In other words, our program approach is not rigorous, but uses Intentional Teaching Strategies through the Nationally Approved Creative Curriculum with Maryland Module for School Readiness (MMSR) certified teachers. Our curriculum is mostly in English, however, we also introduce different languages such as Spanish as well as the American Sign Language. Our educational team and our curriculum allows children with varying special needs to be a part of our program with or without the help of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy (both onsite and offsite). We also help parents teach their children to be involved in the community. Program Our child care and preschool program is from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We provide full-time and part-time care for infants as young as 6 weeks, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old, including children with special needs. All kids attending our program are served with breakfast and snacks in the afternoon (already included in the program), but parents have to provide lunch. We’re also open in the summer and we offer a fun summer camp program! Location Green Hill Child Development Center is located in the Takoma Park neighborhood of Silver Spring, MD. The Miracle Child Development Center

Have you noticed how eager you are to learn more about the subjects... that capture your interest? It’s exactly the same with children—whenever something sparks their interest, they soak up everything they can find out about it, quickly, deeply and intensely, learning that will last forever. As teachers and caregivers, we carefully listen for their "WOW!" of discovery, and then get to work, setting the stage, creating the mood, subtly encouraging the children to follow their inspiration. Books of all kinds are made available, writing and drawing materials, blocks and construction equipment, dramatic play accessories, music of the world and our hearts, and all kinds of math and science discovery materials. The children ask and measure, and listen, and think, and consider, and conclude, and perform, and disagree, and create, and take apart, and dance, and their imaginations fly. The spark is kindled, and the fires of learning are ignited. The KidSparkz Curriculum…. • is a developmentally appropriate program fulfilling the needs and appreciating the differences of individual children. Most activities can be enjoyed by children aged three to five. • Provides a balance of child initiated and teacher-focused activities; active and quiet activities; and group and individual activities • Combines aspects of the Project Approach, Reggio Emilia emergent curriculum, and theme-based curricula to create a hands-on, active program where children interact with each other and materials, co-operating and collaborating. • Builds upon what the children already know and are able to do, to enable them to connect new concepts and skills • Encourages parents to be partners in learning

St. John's Episcopal Preschool

About Us: Our preschool curriculum is inspired by the philosophy of... teaching young children that originates in Reggio Emilia, Italy. We believe children possess a natural capacity for joy, a sense of wonder about the world and the motivation to make sense of their world. Every young child is intelligent and capable of constructing knowledge through interactions with parents, peers, and educators. At St. John's, children's investigations take on multiple dimensions as they explore the world using their unique personalities and abilities. We also believe all children have the right to caring relationships and rich learning environments provided by adults who listen to their ideas, value their thinking, and thereby broaden their understanding of their world. Our Preschool was founded by parishioners as a part of the church's bicentennial celebration. As a ministry of St. John's Church, we seek to form a bridge to the wider community, reflect the diversity around us, and support the full potential of childhood. The Preschool welcomed its first class of four children in March 1997. In the ensuing years, we have grown to an enrollment of 45 children, ranging in age from 2-1/2 to 5 years. We offer three morning classes with mixed-age extended day options in the morning Early Birds program and the afternoon Kids' Workshop. St. John's Episcopal Preschool is a child care center in Washington, DC. We are open from 8:00am to 3:30pm. To learn more about us, please send us an email.
