Play-based Daycares in Potomac MD

Glen Road Kids Playhouse
About Me: Hello parents, thank you for your interest in Glen Road Kids Playhouse! I run a nurturing and educational child care and preschool program in Potomac, MD. I have more than 20 years of child care and early childhood education experience and as a mother myself, I know how difficult it is to look for the best child care for your little one. At my home daycare and preschool, I provide a safe, loving and caring environment, in a smoke-free facility. I treat each child as if they were my own! Besides my 20 years of experience, I have an Associate’s degree and I’m CPR & First-aid certified. I also have a MAT certification, so I can administer medication to all children in my care. Curriculum: Young minds learn so much through play and therefore, I offer a play-based early learning program. My curriculum offers an excellent educational and recreational program with various activities like music, story time, coloring, and a lot more! I also have a fenced backyard and playground where children can enjoy their outdoor playtime. My goal is also to help young parents during their infants' and toddlers' developmental stages such as transitioning from baby bottles to food, learning to walk, potty training, learning to share and interact with other children. Program: My daycare is open between 6:30 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. I provide full-time and part-time child care for infants as young as 4 weeks, as well as toddlers and preschoolers up to 5 years old. I can also offer drop-in child care for occasional needs. Before and after school care is also available for school-age kids, up to 8 years old (my facility is within walking distance of Wayside Elementary School and near Potomac Elementary School and Beverly Farms Elementary School). Lunch and snacks are included in the tuition and served to all attending kids. Locations: Glen Road Kids Playhouse is located off Glen Road, in the Bedfordshire neighborhood of Potomac, MD (near Travilah and Rockville). I'm a few minutes away for River Rd (route 190), as well as Washington National Pike (I-270) and thus offer easy access to/from Potomac, Rockville, and Bethesda. Please send an email or call to schedule a visit. I look forward to meeting you and your little one!

Home Away From Home

Hi parents, welcome to Home Away From Home! There is no better place... for your child to learn and grow. We are a licensed child care provider located in North Potomac, offering a wonderful learning environment and individualized program to help your child reach their full potential. Our curriculum is designed to provide an environment where teachers support the nurturing and learning that the children want and need. Students are offered the opportunity to develop their natural curiosity and creativity and they can develop a lifelong love of learning. Learning concepts are brought to life in fun and imaginative ways, and enrichment programs are also available to expose children to the skills necessary to support their active lives, develop positive self-esteem and set the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. We stress the importance of a single, consistent caregiver for the majority of the day. This caregiver provides a written daily report for the parents. There is one caregiver for every 3 children in the infant and toddler room. Each room has a primary caregiver who performs the entire one on one range of care giving routines (feeding, changing, comforting, etc.) for that child, and with whom the child forms a bond of intimacy and reassurance. In the infant room, our experienced caregivers is carefully trained to help babies feel safe, loved and well cared-for. They understand the importance of talking to the children, making eye contact, singing silly songs, cuddling and the gentle guidance needed by the children through the use of positive discipline. In the toddler room, the environment is rich in materials which encourage exploration, active, and interactive play. Once young children develop a sense of trust, we help them become independent and self confident as they develop social, language and motor skills. Daily activities include story time, music, outdoor play as well as indoor play with age appropriate toys. Toddlers also do art activities each day using a variety of materials. Preschoolers are also introduced to activities such as sequencing and matching, story telling, process-writing to foster cognitive skills, social skill and language and art skills. Our learning centers encourage self-reliance and provide opportunities for children to develop their self confidence. Children also practice their decision making as they navigate from center to center. Children are encouraged to progress at their own pace according to their individual needs and abilities. We provide cribs, cots, sheets, blankets, morning and afternoon snacks, milk and juice. Diversity is an important part of our program and is emphasized in every room. We happily accept children of all races, nationalities and lifestyles. We will do our best to accommodate children with special needs. Thank you so much, we look forward to welcoming you and your child at Home Away From Home!

Sherman Early Childhood Center at Har Shalom

The Sherman ECC opened in 1972 and has grown to become the pride of... our congregation. In the summer of 2016 our classrooms were completely renovated and feature open spaces and big beautiful windows. In the fall of 2016 our school will be building a state of the art natural playground. Last year we were named Washington FAMILY magazine's Best Preschool, Best Faith-based school, and Best Art Classes. At the Sherman ECC, we believe that each child is a capable and unique individual. Our program provides learning and positive social interaction opportunities for all children through a quality, inclusive and developmentally appropriate program. We nurture children and families in a safe and supportive community. Our program strives to meet the individual needs of each and every child and encourages them to explore their environment through meaningful, relevant and hands-on experiences. Through an array of developmentally appropriate approaches, children develop language, cognitive, social-emotional and physical skills. In addition, our children develop spirituality and an intense feeling of pride in their Jewish heritage, as they observe and participate in Jewish customs and holiday observances. As early childhood professionals, we aim to give each child the opportunity to learn, develop and play to their fullest potential. Our Director, Beth Hoch has been in the early childhood field for over 16 years as a teacher, team leader, and school administrator. She has a passion for Jewish early childhood education and creating an environment where all children are growing and challenged. Beth feels parents are partners and that we work together in the classroom, at home, and in the synagogue to nurture each child and help them grow cognitively, socially, physically, and spiritually through a variety of learning experiences.
